Will-o'-the-Wisps and the May Queen. Book 1. Ghost Lights
()
About this ebook
When the will-o’-the-wisps appear in the Borderland on a May night, celestial maidens come from the Heavenly World of Deities. Pure Ones, created by the Deities themselves, and dark Demons fight for the right to possess them. For on whose side the celestial maiden is, victory will come to that side.
The girl Eru has very active and successful parents in life. She has a very successful younger sister, who at the age of twenty-five has already managed to start her own business, get married, have a child, and also manages to combine parenthood with work.
Eru herself has neither a permanent job nor a personal life. She lives with her parents and is often overcome by very dark thoughts.
One day, the girl saw a strange dream. It was as if will-o’-the-wisps descended from the ceiling towards her. Let's remember the story her mother once told her: Eru follows the will-o’-the-wisps through the blue fog. And she comes out to an amazing place in which there are two sanctuaries with columns. In each sanctuary there is a group of beautiful people who begin to call the girl to them.
By the will of fate, Eru, without knowing it, goes to those who call themselves ‘Pure Ones’. And without realizing it, she unwittingly enters into a contract with the King of the Pure Ones, Erian...
The Pure Ones call Eru ‘the celestial maiden’ and worship her like a goddess. And she doesn’t yet know that the ‘sacred marks’ (similar to social network accounts) that she sees next to the Pure Ones, if she looks at them for three or more seconds, will cause her a lot of pain. For ‘sacred marks’ reveal information about their owners that Eru would prefer never to know...
But it's just a dream, isn't it? Or... Is this not a dream after all?
Meanwhile, no one yet knows that the Sky Tower, which is visible in the sky, keeps its own special secrets, which neither the Pure Ones nor the Demons know about...

Chapter 1. Sewing Tape and Will-o'-the-Wisps.
Real name: doesn't matter
The name she chose: Eru
Age: 27 years old
Occupation: freelance translator (or as people in her country say ‘without a permanent job’)
Personal life: none
Personal life in the past: none
Current goal: receive the package at the post office
Special features: constantly depressed
Miss, I was the one standing here!
shouted a short and plump middle-aged man.
No, I was standing in line behind that lady,
Eru answered calmly, although such everyday situations always made her feel terrified inside.
Ma’am, was she the one standing behind you in line?
the man squealed.
A middle-aged lady in a red coat standing next to the postal worker at that moment answered without turning around:
I don't remember.
And really, it's not her problem. Her turn has already come. And the long line behind her didn’t bother her anymore.
I was the one standing here!
the man shouted hysterically. What is going on? Is this not respect for me as a person, or what?
No — now it’s my turn,
Eru tried to look calm, but in such unpleasant moments she wanted to run home and hide under the table.
Although such chaos and confusion was constantly happening at the post office. This is understandable: a lot of new and multi-storey houses have been built in this area, online orders have recently continued to gain rapid popularity. But the post office, with three workers and built half a century ago, remains the same as it was. Only now, half a century ago, many fewer people lived in this area.
Who's next in line to receive the package,
said the postal worker melancholy. For sure, everything was indifferent to her as long as people’s disputes did not cross the line of reason. It was her working day anyway.
I,
Eru immediately jumped up, taking out a smartphone with a track number.
The man behind her grumbled something that he just needs to send a package
and that they don’t respect him as a person here.
Sending packages, by the way, took much longer than receiving them.
One package?
the worker clarified.
Yeah.
Without payment?
Yes. Online order, already paid.
Identification documents, please. And the tracking number.
Here.
The worker quickly checked something on the computer, checked the girl’s identification documents and her tracking number, and then went in search of the package.
They don’t respect me at all as a person!
the man behind continued
