CHAPTER ONE
The Descent
Orpheus stood at the entrance to the underworld, his heart pounding in his chest. He had come this far, but now that he was faced with the reality of what lay ahead, he felt a wave of fear wash over him.
The entrance was guarded by Cerberus, the three-headed dog who was said to be invincible. Orpheus had heard stories of heroes who had tried to enter the underworld and had been torn apart by the beast. But he had to try. He had to save Eurydice.
Taking a deep breath, Orpheus approached Cerberus. The dog growled, baring its teeth, but Orpheus didn't back down. He reached into his bag and pulled out a small bag of meat. He had heard that Cerberus could be bribed.
Good dog,
he said, tossing the bag of meat towards the beast. Cerberus caught it in midair, and Orpheus took the opportunity to slip past him and into the underworld.
The air was thick with mist, and the ground was cold and hard beneath his feet. Orpheus felt a chill run down his spine as he looked around at the shadows that lurked in every corner.
He had to find Eurydice. But where to start?
As he wandered through the underworld, he heard the moans of lost souls and the sound of the river Styx rushing by. He felt a sense of hopelessness creeping up on him, but he pushed it aside. He had to stay focused.
Suddenly, he heard a beautiful voice singing in the distance. It was Eurydice! He ran towards the sound, his heart racing with excitement.
As he drew closer, the singing grew louder and more beautiful. He could see Eurydice standing in a pool of light, her hair shining like gold.
Eurydice!
he cried, running towards her.
But as he reached out to touch her, she vanished into thin air.
Orpheus was left standing alone in the darkness, feeling more lost and helpless than ever before. How would he ever find her again? And even if he did, how would he convince her to leave this place of darkness and death?
CHAPTER TWO
Persephone's Garden
Orpheus wandered through the underworld, his heart heavy with despair. He had heard Eurydice's voice, but she had vanished before he could reach her. He felt like giving up, but he knew he had to keep trying. He had come too far to turn back now.
As he walked, he saw a glimmer of light in the distance. He followed it, hoping it would lead him to Eurydice.
The light grew brighter as he approached, and he soon found himself standing at the entrance to a beautiful garden. The air was filled with the scent of flowers, and the sound of birds singing. It was like a paradise in the midst of the underworld.
Orpheus stepped inside, feeling a sense of peace wash over him. He saw a figure in the distance, and as he drew closer, he realized it was Persephone, the queen of the underworld.
She was tending to the flowers, her hands moving gently over their petals. She turned to him, and he saw kindness in her eyes.
Orpheus,
she said. What brings you to my garden?
Orpheus bowed his head. I seek my beloved Eurydice,
he said. She is lost in this place, and I cannot find her.
Persephone looked at him sympathetically. I understand your pain,
she said. "But you must know
