Chapter 1

After five years of marriage Jimmy and Grace had mutually decided to seek a divorce. For financial reasons, however, they agreed that they would live together for another year.

This odd arrangement saw Jimmy taking the master bedroom, which had its own ensuite bathroom, while Grace moved into the spare room down the hall. The only area of the house they were forced to share was the kitchen.

They lived like this for over six months. During that time, they barely saw eachother and on the rare occasions where communicating was essential it was facilitated via text message.

Things were strange, but going according to plan until the pandemic started. Despite not being able to leave the house neither Jimmy nor Grace had any inclination to share eachother's company.

A week into lockdown Grace - claiming she was suffering desperately from the monotony and solitude of it all - sought Jimmy's permission to have a man around to the house. Though he was secretly outraged by the mere suggestion of this, he told her that he had little interest in what she got up to and gave his approval. Over the following weeks she made frequent requests of a similar nature, all of which he nonchalantly accepted.

Soon, Jimmy too was suffering from the effects of isolation and reached out to an old flame of his called Jess. He told her about his living situation with Grace, including details of her recent visits. Jess - who Jimmy had always fondly considered a bit of a nymphomaniac - was intrigued by the situation and appeared rather turned on by the thought of a still technically married young woman behaving in such a manner.

Before these conversations with Jess, Jimmy had assumed that it was the same man coming round to see Grace on each occasion. Jess made him question this, however, pointing out that Grace could well be using hookup sites and seeing multiple men. This possibility played heavily on his mind. On the one
