When drama teacher Barry Kellam receives a mysterious invitation from 1Night Stand, he can’t imagine who would arrange a night of sexual passion with him. The only possibility is a former student who’s gone on to greater things.

Paul Merrill is the toast of Broadway, and Hollywood beckons. While the awards and fame are nice, he wants to share his success—and his body—with the man who inspired him. But Dr. Kellam isn’t one to date fellow faculty or alumni. Can Paul change his mind?

    Chapter One

Glenn, you ever hear of this 1Night Stand thing? asked Barry Kellam as fellow teacher Glenn Carson crossed the private lounge toward the soda machines. The small dining and sitting area, cordoned off in the main building of Castlewood College Preparatory Academy, provided a relaxing, quiet place for administration and faculty during breaks and lunch. Yet the neutral colors of the room’s decor and the soft Brahms playing overhead served little to ease Barry’s skepticism as he held the mysterious invitation addressed to him.

Furthermore, he swore Glenn stumbled at the mention of 1Night Stand. The younger man crashed against an illuminated Pepsi dispenser, which flickered for a moment, its internal gears churning in recovery.

What’s that you said? Glenn asked, digging into his pocket for money.

I received this today, through the school mail, believe it or not. Barry twisted in the molded plastic chair and watched Glenn go through the ritual of flattening a dollar bill against the machine so it would catch the first time in the money slot. It appears to be some kind of dating service, an elite lonely-heart’s club. I never sent them any information, and, to be honest, I wonder if somebody’s having a joke at my expense.

Glenn kept his gaze averted, and Barry watched the junior teacher flush and fidget. So far, he’d confirmed the younger man might buckle if interrogated about something of great importance. He’d be no good to us as an international spy. Barry gave a muted laugh as he recalled an earlier conversation with Ilyse, the school secretary. She’d let it slip that Glenn had found his current boyfriend, a gorgeous brewer named Rod, through 1Night Stand. Barry wanted information from a reliable source.

For starters, who had arranged a one-night date for him? Had somebody? Any person with the basic skills could design a decent forgery with Photoshop and cardstock.

Barry straightened in the chair and set the embossed invitation on the table, noticing how the gilded letters caught the overhead light:

    Hello, Dr. Kellam.

You are invited to spend an evening of passion and romance with a special admirer, travel and accommodations provided courtesy of 1Night Stand.

The date scheduled for this rendezvous approached fast—this Saturday, in fact. Whoever had planned this intended for it
