Dark Chocolate - Liv Honeywell
Chapter One
Nina Fields opened her eyes and sat up slightly in bed. She looked around her bedroom, wondering what had awakened her. Everything looked exactly as it had when she’d gone to bed but her whole body was tense and she knew something was wrong.
Nina held her breath and listened, straining to hear if anyone was in the house with her. She waited for what seem liked hours but she couldn’t hear anything. She shook her head. She’d felt jumpy for days, although she couldn’t have said why. Maybe she’d just been having a bad dream.

Please, they’re almost outside my door.
Nina threw herself into the bucket chair and put her feet on the bed, pushing back with all her might to keep the chair and chest of drawers wedged firmly against the door. She heard someone turn the door handle and try to push the door open. The chest of drawers moved slightly and the bucket chair began to slip towards the bed. Nina pushed back as hard as she could, managing to push everything back into place and keep the door closed, but her thigh muscles were
