Chapter 1
Michel was returning to his office in Lyon after months of exciting vacation, during which he explored Egypt and sold archaeological artifacts to avid collectors. His mind was refreshed, but he was exhausted from the constant traveling. It was time to settle down, catch his breath, and dive into his true passion: writing.
He sat in his leather armchair, looking at the replica Ankh cross made from lapis lazuli crystal that he had kept with him since his trip to Egypt. That ancient amulet had something magical about it. It was said to bring good luck and had thousands of years of history.
What book will I write?
Michel thought aloud as he observed the Ankh cross. I've already covered mythology in some of my previous works, maybe this time I can try something different, a romance perhaps...
Michel was sitting in his office, watching the peaceful landscape of Lyon through the fifth-floor window. The Saône River meandered gently on the horizon, offering a serene view that contrasted with the turmoil of his mind. However, the words didn't flow and inspiration seemed to have disappeared.
I’m drawing a blank
, Michael lamented, lifting his coffee mug to his mouth. The warm, familiar aroma of coffee wrapped around him like a familiar embrace, but his mind remained veiled in a thick fog.
At that moment, his cell phone rang, interrupting his contemplation. Michel looked at his cell phone screen and saw his friend Pierre's name. For a moment, he hesitated, torn between his solitary writing world and the potential for a much-needed break. Ultimately, he decided that a conversation with Pierre might just be the spark his creativity needed.
With a sigh of resignation, Michel accepted the call. Yes, Pierre, what do you want?
Feeling thirsty, my friend? Fancy joining me for a drink?
Asked Pierre on the other end of the call.
Michel pondered for a moment. He truly longed for a quiet time to write, but he also knew that Pierre's company could be invigorating. Finally, he agreed with a smile.
Well, Pierre, I suppose a change of scenery and a friendly chat could be just the inspiration I need. Count me in.
Michel and Pierre agreed to meet at the restaurant Le Musée
. It was a place celebrated not only for its gourmet offerings but also for the enchanting ambiance it provided, amplified by its breathtaking view of the Saône River. It was a perfect retreat to escape the pressures of everyday life and enjoy a peaceful lunch.
Upon arrival, they were ushered to a table thoughtfully positioned by a wide expanse of the restaurant’s floor-to-ceiling windows, affording them an uninterrupted view of the serene river. As they settled into their seats, Michel summoned the sommelier and selected a glass of fresh white wine, a 2010 Châteaux Les Justices
, which matched perfectly with the relaxed atmosphere and picturesque landscape.
As Michel savored the delightful sip of his wine, he couldn’t help but think, This feels good to me.
He sighed with contentment, feeling the tension of the last few months of travel dissipate.
Pierre, always the inquisitive soul, couldn’t resist delving into Michel’s recent adventures What have you been doing?
He asked.
I just returned from Egypt last week,
Michel replied, his voice carrying the weariness of his journey. Now I want to rest and maybe write a book.
Pierre arched an eyebrow, a playful smile tugging at his lips.
