He may have been born into the world’s most famous dynasty of cognac distillers, but from an early age Kilian Hennessy was set on forging his own path in life. And after a series of twists and turns, he followed his nose and found himself in the perfume business.
Kilian now runs his own eponymous brand – By Kilian – and the sweet scent of success is apparent in his personal life, too, with a chance encounter in 2007 eventually leading to love. He and his wife Elisabeth – who have three children between them from previous relationships aged 12, 15 and 17 – live in a bright, art-filled apartment in Manhattan’s Tribeca district, into which they welcome HELLO!.
“We just love the magic of Tribeca’s cobbled streets, the loft-style apartments and the wonderful restaurants,” says Kilian. “We’re just a few blocks from Soho and Greenwich Village. Also, being able to walk to the Hudson River waterfront promenade – well, you can’t put a price on that.
