Gee" is based upon the transcription of 72 marriage records from the County of Hastings and the registration district of Peterborough in Ontario, Canada. The marriages were recorded by two Methodist ministers in a circa-1858 register which was donated to a thrift shop in Southeastern Ontario, Canada.

    "The 1874-1890 Long-Lost Register of Reverend R. Clarke and Reverend D. E. F. Gee" is a valuable primary source, and has not been digitized. Archivists, librarians, genealogists and others from around the world answered the author's questions and supplied source material to support the examination of related histories and mysteries so that the book became much more than just the transcription of the marriage records.

In a nearby city's thrift shop, the faded register upon which this book is based caught her eye from its place in the locked special items display case.Her purchase of the register was an offshoot of her hobby of buying vintage albums containing carte-de-visite and daguerrotype photographs with the goal of researching them and returning them to descendants of the original owners. She has had several successes! Mary credits her parents for sparking her interest in genealogy.
