Chapter 1: same sex relations
There are several passages in the Bible that have been interpreted as condemning same-sex relationships.
In the Old Testament, Leviticus 18:22 states, You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
Similarly, Leviticus 20:13 says, If a man lies with a male as with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination; they shall surely be put to death; their blood is upon them.
The Hebrew word for aAbomination
is תּוֹעֵבַה
(pronounced as toe-ay-vah
) translates to abomination
or detestable
in English.
It is often used in religious or moral contexts to refer to something that is considered extremely offensive, sinful, or morally repugnant. And what God is say is that such practices are extremely offensive to him. It is so offensive to him that it warrants the death penalty and/or exculsion from his kingdom.
In the New Testament, Romans 1:26-27 states that God gave up some people to dishonorable passions
and that they were filled with all manner of unrighteousness, evil, covetousness, malice. They are full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, maliciousness. They are gossips, slanderers, haters of God... men who practice homosexuality.
Degrading
is from the Greek word ἀτιμία (atimía) and is a Greek word that translates to dishonor
or disgrace
in English. It is derived from the combination of the prefix ἀ-
(a-), meaning not,
and τιμή
(timḗ), meaning honor
or esteem.
Therefore, ἀτιμία signifies the absence or loss of honor, respect, or dignity. It implies a state of being discredited or experiencing a loss of social standing due to one's actions, behavior, or reputation.
Loss of Honor, Dignity, Respect
Losing one's honor, dignity, or respect can have profound personal and social consequences. These terms are interconnected and often used in conjunction to describe the erosion or loss of an individual's moral standing, self-worth, and esteem in the eyes of others. When someone's honor, dignity, or respect is compromised, it typically stems from actions or behaviors that are perceived as dishonorable, undignified, or disrespectful. In this response, we will delve into the meanings of these concepts and explore the potential ramifications and examples of losing them.
Honor:
Honor refers to the adherence to a set of moral principles, ethics, and values that are considered virtuous and worthy. When one loses honor, they deviate from these principles, often by engaging in dishonesty, betrayal, or unethical behavior. Losing honor diminishes an individual's integrity, trustworthiness, and credibility. For instance:
A politician who is caught accepting bribes loses honor and the trust of their constituents.
A student who cheats on an exam compromises their academic honor.
And it is the same with marrying the same sex, having sex with or marrying animals, or marrying or having sex with close relatives such as aunt, uncle, brother, sister... just to name a few.
Dignity:
Dignity embodies an individual's inherent worth, self-respect, and the recognition of their fundamental rights and equality. Losing dignity often occurs when someone is subjected to humiliation, degradation, or mistreatment that undermines their sense of self. Examples include:
A person who is publicly shamed or ridiculed loses their dignity and suffers emotional distress.
An employee who is unfairly treated or discriminated against in the workplace may experience a loss of dignity.
Respect:
Respect involves the admiration, esteem, and consideration given to an individual based on their qualities, achievements, or position. Losing respect can result from actions that diminish one's reputation, credibility, or standing in the eyes of others. Examples of losing respect include:
A leader who consistently fails to fulfill their responsibilities and makes poor decisions loses the respect of their followers.
A friend who constantly lies or breaks promises loses the respect of their peers.
The consequences of losing honor, dignity, or respect are multifaceted and can manifest in various aspects of an individual's life:
Personal Consequences:
Loss of self-esteem: When honor, dignity, or respect are lost, individuals may suffer from a diminished sense of self-worth, leading to feelings of guilt, shame, or unworthiness.
Emotional distress: The erosion of these values can cause psychological turmoil, including anxiety, depression, and a loss of purpose or identity.
Self-isolation: Individuals who have lost honor, dignity, or respect may experience social withdrawal or isolation as they fear judgment, rejection, or further harm.
Social Consequences:
Stigmatization and marginalization: Society often stigmatizes those who have lost honor, dignity, or respect, leading to social exclusion, discrimination, or being treated as outcasts.
Loss of relationships: The erosion of these values can strain or sever personal and professional relationships, as trust and credibility are compromised.
Diminished opportunities: A tarnished reputation can result in limited opportunities for employment, education, or advancement, as individuals are viewed as unreliable or untrustworthy.
Examples of losing honor, dignity, or respect can be observed in various contexts:
These are what God hands over to those who commits acts or homosexuality or lesbianism.
It simply means that one has lost God's respect for that person and cause him or her to be publicly humiliated. May be such person will feel this way whenever he or she hears the word of God touch their conscience.

Leviticus and Homosexuality
Leviticus 18:22 - You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination.
The verse you provided is from the Book of Leviticus in the Old Testament of the Bible. Leviticus is a part of the Torah, which contains the laws and commandments given to the Israelites. It is important to understand this verse in its historical and cultural context.
In Leviticus 18, God gives the Israelites a series of instructions concerning sexual relationships. The verse you mentioned specifically addresses same-sex sexual activity between men. Let's explore this verse further and also consider its interpretation and relevance today.
The verse, You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination,
is often cited as evidence of a biblical prohibition against homosexuality. However, it is crucial to approach the text with an understanding of its historical context and the broader biblical teachings.
During the time the Book of Leviticus was written, ancient Israelite society had different cultural and religious norms compared to contemporary society. The verse in question reflects the social and religious norms of that period. It is believed that the prohibition against same-sex sexual activity in Leviticus 18:22 was intended to distinguish Israelites from the practices of neighboring nations, rather than being a universal moral law.
It is important to note that the Bible contains various laws and commandments that were specifically given to the Israelites to establish their religious and societal practices. These laws included dietary restrictions, regulations for worship, and guidelines for personal conduct. Some of these laws were designed to set the Israelites apart from other nations and establish their identity as God's chosen people.
However, as Christianity developed, many of the laws found in the Old Testament were reevaluated in light of Jesus Christ's teachings and the New Covenant. Christians believe that Jesus' life, death, and resurrection brought about a new way of relating to God, and many of the Old Testament laws were superseded or fulfilled in the teachings of Jesus.
In the New Testament, Jesus emphasizes love, compassion, and the importance of treating others with dignity and respect. He speaks about the greatest commandments being to love God with all one's heart, soul, and mind, and to love one's neighbor as oneself. These teachings provide a foundation for understanding ethical principles in Christianity.
When it comes to homosexuality, the topic is addressed in a few passages in the New Testament, primarily in the writings
