About this ebook
The words I have written, and have this opportunity to share with you, are from my journey through my walk of faith. They cover a wide variety of spiritual poems; many of which are personal in my life. My hope is you will find something encouraging and inspirational. I tried to give this book a flow from beginning to end. Starting from "Faith," "New Life" with Jesus through "Salvation," progressing through "Storms" of life, "God's Grace," "Future Hope" and ending with "Thoughts to Ponder." Other chapters may enlighten your journey of faith. I invite you in to read my journey and pray you make a discovery that will illuminate your walk with God. My desire is for On Wings of Poetry to touch hearts, dear readers. It is my joy to share with you these words and pray your heart will be touched. Thank you for sharing some of my walk with Jesus and God. As you read through these pages, be blessed in the reading. To God be the glory for all He has inspired me to put in this book. May His touch be on you in His own special way as you journey through life.
In Christ's love,
Nancy

A Tribute to Music
Music is the universal language of mankind. Poetry their universal pastime and delight.
—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
My Letter to the LORD
FAITH
NEW LIFE
SALVATION
YIELDING
ABIDING
For me, dear Lord, You have
done great things.
As I think of these poems,
please give them wings
To go where You want
them to go—
Reaching hearts You
already know,
May need encouragement
for a need
And pick up this
book to read.
Or another to be
pointed to You,
Finding a poem to renew,
their walk of faith,
Meeting You, the
God of Grace
And Jesus, Your
Beloved Son
Falling in love with
Him, as I have done.
Father, please give
these poems wings,
That You may be honored
in all that they bring.
Chapter I
Faith
Hard Faith
It is hard faith we need
As we make the great discovery
That Jesus has met all our needs
On our rocky road of Recovery.
He has been here—He bids us to come,
As we travel along on the path He won.
A future is promised, walking in His way,
Holding to a Hard Faith—not falling away.
Road to Recovery
Hold fast to your faith
Don’t waver or doubt
Jesus has gone on ahead
He is working things out,
His Life has been ransomed
The price has been met
He will meet us one day
So let’s not forget
To hold to a hard faith
As we seek the discovery
Of who Jesus is on our
Road to Recovery.
To the reader,
Hard Faith
came to me as I thought of people recovering, as I was, back in the spring of 1991, from so much that had entered my life in the 1980s.
I just wrote those words that came to me.
To me, Hard Faith
is standing firm, steadfast in your trust and belief in Jesus when everything you face is difficult and it seems impossible to get through.
That’s when hard faith is needed, and you lean in and hold tight to Jesus.
I did, and Jesus brought me through because my trust was in His power.
Mustard Seed Faith
Faith can be as small
As a mustard seed,
But even small faith
is what we need.
Faith not in ourselves
and what we can do;
But faith in Jesus
to bring us through.
To a greater and more
wonderful faith,
Our little faith grows
by God’s Grace.
The more we lean in
and on our Savior,
God grants more
by His favor.
So we need faith—it
can be mighty;
Or faith can be small;
but faith will grow
When on Jesus we call,
He has told us our
faith overcomes the world
All by loving Jesus our
Precious Lord.
Without My Faith
Without my faith,
Where would I be?
Without my God,
What would happen to me?
I’d be alone with
all my cares.
Praise be to God,
He is always near.
My faith in God and
His Beloved Son
Has brought me through
so many storms.
So I rest in the knowledge,
I am never alone.
God’s with me
each day,
Till He calls
me Home.
Home to My
Eternal place
Promised to me
by God’s Grace
My faith increases
with each new day
Gratefulness is
what I pray.
Over the years
my life has been blessed;
Because God’s Son
became my Savior, Jesus.
Heart Faith
Only heart faith will let us feel,
What our sight cannot reveal
Of all God has for us to know
Or all the ways we are to grow.
Shut up to faith, I need Grace to wait
Until God determines the date
For my heart faith to become sight
Till then God tells me to walk in the Light
Telling the world the victory is won
For all who put their faith in His Son.
The Shield of Faith
The shield of faith protects me
From the flaming darts of the enemy.
He can throw, but they can’t penetrate
My shield of faith, if it is great.
He can attack with his evil ways;
But cannot win, if steady I stay.
Firm in what I know of him
And great faith in the One who wins.
The victory over Satan has been won
By the greatness of God’s Holy Son
Now I can rest in what I know
And tell Satan he must go.
Shut Up to Faith
Shut up to faith, we do not know
What God has planned so long ago.
For faith does not let us see
With our eyes, but with our heart
All that God wants to impart.
Our God has great things for those
Whom He loves so much.
Only your heart will feel His touch.
Shut up to faith may we grow more
Into the ways of the One we adore.
Let faith increase—may His Love flow free
To all of His children and one is me.
More Faith
More faith is needed
in times of despair.
Cling to the only One
who knows what we bear.
Jesus is with us and in us,
in Him we must trust
He will lead us through
and be by our side.
The darkness will leave;
if in Him we abide.
Abiding in His Holy Presence,
letting His will be our own
Abiding, never straying
He never leaves us alone.
Staying on the straight and narrow
may we never leave that path
For it will take us to our Home,
to be with Jesus at last.
So no despair can defeat me—
nothing is too big for Him
Jesus knows all I am facing,
with Him, I will win.
The victory over life’s
