About the Author

Hi, I'm Tim Federowicz, a retired catcher with a wealth of experience in Major League Baseball. Over the course of my career, I had the privilege of playing for 9 different organizations over the 14 years. 

Throughout my journey, I had the incredible opportunity to catch multiple Cy Young winners and be part of some exceptional playoff teams. Although I spent a significant portion of my MLB career on the bench, this unique vantage point provided me with a different perspective on the game.  It allowed me to closely observe how elite players prepare day in and day out, gaining valuable insights into their mindset and approach to the game.

My passion for writing this book stems from witnessing the remarkable evolution of baseball, particularly in the catcher position. I have seen firsthand how the game has evolved, the advancements in technology and analytics, and the ever-changing strategies employed on the field.  I want to share my thoughts and experiences to provide aspiring catchers, baseball enthusiasts, and fans with valuable insights into the game's progression.

Throughout my career, I have embraced the challenges and constantly adapted to the evolving nature of baseball. As a catcher, I understand the unique demands and responsibilities of the position. I have experienced the highs and lows, the pressures of calling games, managing pitchers, and the physical toll that catching takes on the body.

My goal in writing this book is to offer a comprehensive guide for catchers, young and old, who are passionate about the game.  I aim to provide practical advice, strategies, and techniques that can help catchers elevate their skills and make a positive impact on the field. Drawing from my own experiences and the invaluable lessons learned throughout my career, I want to empower catchers to embrace the challenges, develop their own style, and excel in their role on the team.

Baseball is a constantly evolving sport, and the catcher position is no exception. With new technologies, analytics, and training methods shaping the game, it is essential to stay ahead of the curve. By sharing my insights and observations, I hope to contribute to the ongoing conversation and inspire catchers to continue pushing the boundaries of their abilities.

I am grateful for the experiences, friendships, and lessons learned during my time in professional baseball.  It is an honor to share my journey and knowledge with fellow players, fans, and anyone who shares a passion for the game.
