About this ebook

It wasn't supposed to be anything more than a hot wedding hook-up.

Having a one-night fling with your best friend's sister is never a good idea, but I've lusted after Kat McCarthy for years. She's always been off-limits, but now that she's newly divorced and looking to let loose, I'm her man. I've earned the nickname "Good Time Goodman" for a reason, after all. Even my father cutting off my trust fund to force me to settle down and get married hasn't changed that carefree attitude.

But somewhere along the way, Kat does . . .except after living with her ex's lies and deceit, she's insistent that she's not looking for anything serious. When our steamy night together results in a plus one, everything changes, including my desire to put a ring on this woman's finger and marry her.

Until she discovers that in order to get access to my trust fund again, I needed a wife. Now, she thinks my feelings for her are all a ruse to get ahold of that money, but what she's about to learn is that I'm willing to give up everything to make her mine. . . but will she trust me enough to believe the truth?

The Billionaire's Wedding Hookup - Kaylee Monroe

    Chapter One

    Kat

I feel like everyone’s judging me, I mumbled to my brother as we walked into the wedding reception together.

He scoffed. No one’s paying any attention to you, Kat, Ben said as we stopped at the gift table so he could drop off the present I wrapped this morning. It was a decorative vase from the both of us. Today is all about the bride and groom. No one here cares that you’re divorced.

"Recently divorced, I corrected him. It’s only been a few months since the divorce was finalized. Definitely not enough time for it to really blow over. Not only that, but I don’t even have a date. What kind of a loser goes to a wedding with her brother?"

Hey! He nudged me with his elbow. I thought you said it would be fun to hang out together.

I cringed. "Sorry, sorry. You are fun. I just wish I had a hunky guy on my arm, someone that would dispel any ideas that I’m a sad, pathetic divorcee."

Ah, Ben grinned. "That’s where your attitude is completely wrong, big sis. You don’t bring a hot date to a wedding, you leave with one."

What are you talking about? I asked as we made our way to a table. The banquet was decorated elegantly, with candles, roses, and twinkle lights. Romance was in the air, seeming to highlight my newly single status.

I’m talking about a hookup, which is the whole point of single people going to a wedding.

I arched an eyebrow. I thought we were here to celebrate Jackson finding love.

We’d known Jackson Goodman for a long time, and his younger brother, Chase, had been Ben’s best friend since their freshman year of college. Not only that, but this wedding was a big deal because Jackson was marrying the woman that created one of the biggest dating apps on the market. It was a sweet love story. A cynical billionaire who’d fallen for his matchmaker.

"Fine, we’re here for two reason, Ben amended his previous comment. Celebrating love and taking full advantage of the way that weddings make women want to have sex."

They do? We found our table and sat down.

Of course, he said, like it was common knowledge. I’m just saying, there’s a reason I wanted to drive separately. I’m going to try my hardest to take home one of the bridesmaids.

Charming, I said dryly, and rolled my eyes.

Charming? You must be talking about me, a sexy male voice said from behind us.

I turned to see Chase Goodman standing there. I couldn’t stop myself from sweeping my gaze over him, appreciating the gorgeous man he’d become.

He’d been up at the altar beside Jackson during the ceremony, and I found myself eyeing him instead of paying attention to the happy couple as they exchanged their vows. It had been a few years since I’d last seen him, but Chase still had that athletic build that he gained during his college football days. Broad shoulders and chest, muscular arms, and thick thighs. His toned form filled out his tuxedo just right, and I felt a deep longing take root in my core.

The attraction was sudden and undeniable.

Looking up at him from my seat now, I realized he was even more appealing up close, with his thick, dark brown hair styled back off his forehead and deep, mesmerizing brown eyes. But the most enticing thing about Chase had always been his easy—and yes, charming—smile. It stretched across his face now as he pulled out the chair on the other side of Ben and took a seat.

He and Ben started talking, and I forced myself to look away from him. This was Ben’s best friend, which made the dirty thoughts going through my mind—mostly about finding a private place to strip that tux off Chase—completely inappropriate. It had just been so long since I’d scratched that itch, and Chase had that seductive quality about him that I just knew he’d be amazing in bed.

That sexual confidence was written all over him, with his you-know-you-wanna grin and self-assured swagger. Plus, he had a certain reputation with the ladies that made me more curious than I needed to be if I had any hope of ignoring the desire coursing through my body.

A waiter came by with a bottle of champagne and I happily leaned back so that he could pour some into my glass. Maybe a drink or two would help cool down my libido a bit.

So, Kat, I hear you’re moving in with Ben at your parents’ place? Chase asked, leaning forward in his seat so he had a clear view of me on the other side of my brother. You sure you want to do that? He’s a total slob.

Fuck you, Ben cut in before I could reply, but there was no malice in his voice. He knew that Chase wasn’t wrong.

Actually, I’ll be moving into the guest house, I explained. It’ll give me a little privacy. But it’s not happening until I sell my house.

My ex-husband had already moved out, but we’d put the house we shared together on the market a week ago. There were already offers coming in, and I was eager to see it sold. I had tried for years to make the place a happy home for the two of us, determined to make my marriage work, to find happiness with a man that was perfect on paper. But no amount of wishful thinking could make me love him with my whole heart. Once the house was sold, we were splitting the money and going our separate ways for good.

And your parents are cool with that? Chase asked.

I shrugged, sipping my drink. The topic of my parents was a sore spot for me right now. They didn’t take news of the divorce well, and I was left feeling like I let them down at a time when I really could have used their support.

Mom and dad are still globetrotting, Ben explained. Right now, they’re making their way across Europe. Retirement has been good to them.

And it’s pretty convenient for you that you get to look after their big old house while they’re gone, Chase said with a knowing smile. Impresses the women you bring home, right?

The waiter reappeared before Ben got the chance to reply, and I was glad. I didn’t need to hear about my brother’s playboy lifestyle. This time, the waiter sat down three plates of food on the table in front of us. Conversation ceased as we ate roast beef and potatoes, and I finished my first glass of champagne.

I wasn’t much of a drinker, but I’d had a stressful year going through the separation and divorce process. When it came to indulging, I figured, why not? It was a wedding, after all. A little bubbly was a good way to celebrate. The waiter replaced my empty glass with a full one just in time for the speeches.

Felicity’s sister, Rose, was her maid of honor and her speech was sweet, full of heartfelt stories and a playful threat of violence directed at Jackson if he didn’t treat her sister right. Then, Chase took the microphone. In stark contrast, his best man speech was short and light-hearted. It got me thinking about how much I’d always admired him for his seemingly carefree attitude about everything, the ability he had to embrace the moment. That, combined with his easy-going nature, sparked some serious want inside of me.

Okay, the champagne was only making things worse. Or better, depending on how I chose to look at it.

Because at the moment, Chase was looking like sin on a stick and—good idea or not—I was thinking that I’d really love to take a good lick. But there was a big obstacle right in the way. Ben was still planted in his seat between us.

Then, my luck seemed to change as Chase resumed his seat and the bride and groom started their first dance.

Do you guys see this? Ben asked, locking eyes with one of the bridesmaids from across the room.

The dance floor was now crowded with people, swinging their hips and twirling around, but we could all see the way that the woman batted her eyelashes and beckoned to him with a single finger. The flirty smile on her face left little doubt about what was on her mind.

It looks like I’ve found my wedding hookup, he said to us.

Go get her, Casanova, I said and he smirked.

When Ben was gone, I felt excitement build inside of me as I realized that I had an opportunity while I was alone with Chase. Maybe the alcohol gave me courage, or maybe it was the intoxicating allure of being near him. Either way, I found myself moving into Ben’s unoccupied seat.

So, tell me something, I started, turning my body toward Chase and placing my elbow on the table. I rested my chin on my fist as my eyes met his. I could smell his cologne, and the scent of spice and amber seemed to wrap around me, pulling me in. Why are you here alone? You’ve never struck me as the type of guy that has trouble scaring up a date for a wedding.

Oh really? And what type of guy am I? His smile was a warm seduction.

Well… I trailed my fingers over the back of his hand, where it sat on the table. A light touch that made his eyes widen in surprise. Do they still call you ‘Good Time Goodman?’

Uh, yeah… His voice was gravelly, and he swallowed hard. I could see his eyes darken with desire that matched my own, but he was holding it back. That wasn’t what I wanted. Why do you ask?

I smiled and boldly leaned in closer, so that mere inches separated our bodies. I could feel his warmth radiating out, making me feel surrounded by him, even though he hadn’t moved from his relaxed position in the chair.

Because it’s been way too long since I had a good time, I said, my voice a sultry whisper that I was sure I never would have been bold enough to pull off if I didn’t have two glasses of liquid courage coursing through me.

I don’t know about that, Kat… Chase’s eyes flitted to Ben on the other side of the room, way too engrossed in conversation with the bridesmaid he was hitting on to pay any attention to what we were doing.

That’s okay, because I do, I said, impulsively deciding to just go for it. What’s the worst that can happen?

Leaning forward, I pressed my lips to his, stealing a kiss from my brother’s best friend, and hoping that I had found myself a wedding hookup, after all.

    Chapter Two

    Chase

    What the hell is happening?

I froze as Kat’s soft lips molded to mine, shock flickering through me. I held myself back from returning the kiss, even when it became clear that Kat wasn’t just harmlessly flirting with me. She was blatantly trying to seduce me.

She was hard to resist, and God, I wanted her. Always had.

For as long as I’d known her, there’d always been something about her do-gooder, follow-the-straight-and-narrow-path that made me want to show her how to let loose. To tease and tempt her into taking a spontaneous risk for a change. I always thought that she could be wild, if she allowed herself to shed that good girl image.

I never imagined she’d embrace that untamed side of herself without me cajoling it out of her. I didn’t know if the romantic atmosphere had inspired her, or if she was just sick of being a rule-follower, but this was a side of Kat that I’d never seen before. One that made me want to do dirty, filthy things to her, just so I could hear her loud moans and watch her orgasm with my cock buried deep inside her lush body.

But even entertaining the thought of fucking Kat was wrong. Ben would lose his shit if he saw me kissing his sister, and I tried to use that fact as a very strong motivation for pulling away from her—but I couldn’t seem to make myself do it.

The next thing I knew, I had one hand sliding beneath her hair at the nape of her neck, and my tongue skimmed past her parted lips as I lost myself in the sweet taste of her. That hint of
