    He woke up and asked, What took you so long?

    Let me introduce myself.

    I am James (Jim) Jackson.

    I've been married for sixty-one years to LuAnn.

    I have three children, six grandchildren, and one great-grandchild.

    I taught biology for thirty-nine years.

    I wrote an outdoor column for a local paper and did some outdoor TV coverage for a local TV station.

    I made six half-hour programs.

    Chapter 1

    I first met Doc at a Ducks Unlimited meeting, which met regularly at a nearby hospital boardroom. I was not a member of DU, but as the editor of the outdoor section of our local paper, it was an opportunity to meet new people active in the out-of-doors.

    After the meeting, Doc came over and introduced himself.
