Creepy Corners in Erie PA - Brian Dailey

    The Roller Coaster

Thomas, a curious and adventurous 12-year-old boy, eagerly joins his uncle Henry, a seasoned hunter, on a hunting expedition along the picturesque banks of Presque Isle Bay. As they traverse the rugged terrain of the Algeria Farm, Henry regales Thomas with tales of the Massasauga roller coaster, a mysterious and long-abandoned switchback railway nestled amidst the dense foliage.

Intrigued by the allure of the roller coaster, Thomas's imagination runs wild as he envisions the exhilarating rides of the past and the secrets it holds. Determined to uncover the truth, Thomas convinces Henry to venture down the treacherous bluff and explore the remnants of the roller coaster.

With every step they take, the excitement and anticipation in Thomas's heart grow. The air is thick with the scent of nature, and the distant sound of waves crashing against the shore adds to the thrill. As they descend further, the rustling of leaves and the distant cry of birds create an atmosphere of mystery and intrigue.

Suddenly, Thomas's foot slips on a loose rock, causing him to lose his balance. In the chaos that ensues, the shotgun he carries accidentally discharges, and a deafening blast fills the air. Time seems to stand still as Thomas realizes with horror that he has inadvertently shot his beloved uncle.

Pain shoots through Henry's leg, and he cries out in agony. The world spins as he loses his footing and tumbles down the embankment, disappearing into the murky waters of the bay. Thomas's heart pounds in his chest, the weight of guilt suffocating him.

Fear and panic grip Thomas as he scrambles down the bluff, his mind a whirlwind of emotions. He reaches the water's edge, desperately searching for any sign of Henry. Through teary eyes, he spots his uncle clinging to a log, gasping for breath. Relief washes over Thomas, but he knows he must act quickly to save Henry from the treacherous waters.

Thomas reached the edge of the bay, his eyes scanning the waters desperately. His heart raced as he spotted Henry clinging to a log, his face contorted with pain. With all his might, Thomas tried to pull his uncle to safety, but the force of the current proved too strong.

Feeling helpless, Thomas made a split-second decision. He sprinted towards the Lone Fisherman's Inn, a nearby restaurant on Tracy Point, hoping to find someone who could help. However, as he arrived at the inn, his hopes were dashed. It was closed for the season, its doors locked and windows shuttered.

Thomas sank to the steps of the inn, his mind racing. He needed to think of a solution, and quickly. He remembered that Mr. Samson, the manager at the Algeria Farm, had a telephone. Determined, he made up his mind to run back to the farm and seek help from Mr. Samson.

Thomas sprinted back towards the farm, his young legs carrying him as fast as they could. The sun began to set, casting long shadows across the landscape, as if mirroring the growing darkness in Thomas's heart.

Breathless and filled with a sense of urgency, Thomas arrived at the Algeria Farm, his heart pounding in his chest. He rushed to find Mr. Samson, the manager, and quickly relayed what had happened to Henry.

Mr. Samson's face contorted with shock and concern upon hearing the news. Without wasting a moment, he picked up the telephone and dialed the number for the town's doctor. Urgently, he explained the situation and pleaded for the doctor to come to the farm as soon as possible.

Thomas and Mr. Samson waited anxiously at the farm, their eyes glued to the entrance, hoping to catch a glimpse of the approaching help. The weight of the situation hung heavy in the air, and Thomas's mind was filled with worry for his injured uncle.

As they waited, Mr. Samson assured Thomas that everything would be alright. He offered words of comfort and encouragement, understanding the immense burden the young boy was carrying on his shoulders. Thomas clung to those words, finding solace in the presence of Mr. Samson's unwavering support.

Hope flickered as the sound of approaching footsteps reached Thomas's ears. The doctor, accompanied by a group of men from the town, arrived at the farm, ready to assist in the rescue mission. Mr. Samson led them towards the bay, guiding them to the spot where Henry had fallen.

With determined steps, the rescue party descended the embankment and made their way towards the water's edge. Their eyes scanned the bay, searching for any sign of Henry. And then, a glimmer of hope—a figure clinging to a log, battling against the relentless pull of the current.

The men sprang into action, forming a human chain to
