About this ebook

The Little Book brings Jesus of the Bible to life. Jesus called his teaching Truth, as opposed to mistaken ideas which he called The Lie. As his teaching unfolds we see a logical thread running through it, which opens up insight into the world and ourselves, and how we should be.
Jesus was God’s Word to bring the world together. We have the teaching of Jesus to shape our attitudes, the Holy Spirit to guide us, and behind both is God the Father. He patiently leads us to a life that is to come, if we let it.
God’s gifts to us include washing machines and medical knowledge to eradicate illness and aging. We need to be converted and come to God. As we come, his detached position and infinite wisdom flow through us. Children of Light come to the Light, and God is clearly seen in all we do.

Author

Jim Prestidge

Jim has behind him a lifetime of Bible reading. He uses a variety of Bible translations and computer technology. Jim has travelled extensively in most of the continents, worshipping with christians of differing christian traditions and cultural environments. He draws on his wife’s studies of Bible background. Jim and his wife spent time in Israel, the land of the Bible. It was a prayer and study tour, with other christians and Messianic Jews. They visited the places of the Bible, reading what happened there, and praying peace on Jerusalem. Jim wants the Bible to speak for itself. He wants to revive Bible reading. He wants Bible study to be guided, not by church doctrines, nor by commentators, nor by videos, nor by Jim, but by the Holy Spirit. Jim aims to expose the real Jesus and his message: God enters our understanding of his world and how to fit in.

    WHAT IS CHRISTIANITY?

Christianity comes from the teaching of Jesus Christ. He lived at the beginning of the first century of the christian era, in what is now Israel. He was born in Bethlehem, in the then southern kingdom of Judah. He was brought up in the northern kingdom of Israel. That is where he began teaching.

Christians believe that in the beginning God made the world, and it was a good and happy place. Then early man ate fruit from the forbidden tree of the knowledge of good and evil. Ever since there has been a conflict between good and evil, evil giving problems and spoiling the good. Jesus gave us victory over evil, bringing back the life that God intended for us.

The Bible tells about Jesus in the four Gospels which begin the New Testament. The word Gospel is a corruption of the old english for God’s Word. Each gospel writer wrote according to what he knew and what seemed important to him. St Luke began his Gospel with a statement that he had carefully researched his material.

Many writers have undertaken to draw up an account of the events that have taken place among us, following the traditions handed down to us by the original eyewitnesses and servants of the gospel. So I in my turn, as one who has investigated the whole course of these events in detail, have decided to write an orderly narrative … authentic knowledge about the matters of which you have been informed.

    (Luke 1:1–4)

The Old Testament is about the jewish people. It is the basis of judaism, from which Jesus drew his teaching. Judaism had
