M oses Lecount was out of school for the summer. It had been a year since the kids had sailed to Havana,Cuba and rescued his uncle. He telephoned Jack Barker and told him he was coming to Savannah for lunch next Saturday and to catch up. Jack Thomas said let me text Charlotte Pace and see if she will join us then. He did and she replied immediately and said she would love to have lunch and to catch up. She suggested meeting at Clarys Café for burgers, fries and a milkshake. 12 noon ! Jack said it’s a date ! Charlotte was now 16 and gorgeous for a young lady. Long blonde hair, blue eyes and very trim. She was quite the athlete and tall at 5’6 and was an asset to the girls volleyball team. She made straight A’s and planned on going to medical school . Jack was also tall, muscular, athletic and was the qarterback for the Benedictine foot ball team . He was handsome with short military style sandy brown hair. He had clear skin and looked the part of every girls dream date. Charlotte still had a crush on Jack. Moses was as tall as Jack, very muscular, close cropped black hair and very handsome with light brown skin. He had graduated from his first year at the Hyatt Hotel Chef School on Hilton Head Island.

They all met the following Saturday and ordered burgers and shakes. All 3 were good friends and they ate outside at a table on Abercorn Street . Charlotte said she had invited her cousin Ansley Jeffries to come visit her for 2 weeks in July . Ansley loved horses too and wanted to go horseback riding and to see Savannah.

Charlottes father, Jason Pace had suggested they drive up to Bryson City, North Carolina for a weekend and ride the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad . It was a real old timey steam locomotive and went from Bryson City to Dillsboro, North Carolina along the Tuckasaugee River. They could have lunch, go horseback riding in the mountains and be back to Bryson City by 6 pm. All 4 kids were invited. It would be a fun outing.

Jack Thomas spoke up and said "No
