Dolls Clothes
To fit
43 - 46cm Dolls
I created these garments to fit the 46cm/18 inch Our Generation Dolls, and similar sized dolls. They have been created to enable the knitter to use their scraps of 8 ply yarn that they have left over from other projects. Of course, you are also able to buy a ball of 8 ply yarn to make them. On average I get two and sometimes three garments out of a 100g ball of yarn. It is fun to put together an outfit in the colours you like. Children love these garments and I have done my best to make them as play friendly as possible. In other words, it is easy for the little ones and the older children to dress and then undress their dolls.
The most exceptional thing about these patterns is the fact that they are knitted on two needles, NO knitting in the round at all. I do not like knitting in the round be it on four needles or any other method. These patterns are worked from the neck down, I have used short rows to shape the garment where it is needed. I am sure that you will enjoy knitting these garments, and have fun doing so.

Foreword
All these patterns have been made using 8ply acrylic yarns, with a tension of 22sts and 30 rows to 10cm (4in) square worked in stocking stitch using 4mm needles. I originally started knitting dolls clothes to use up my left over half balls of yarn. When I decided to give top-down knitting a go, I did not like knitting in the round. The necklines on the garments that I created were not like the old patterns and did not fit nicely. Because of this I made my own patterns.
These patterns are worked from the top down with straight needles, except for the last 3 patterns, they are also basic patterns, because I like to use different yarns to get different effects, as long as the tension is good. There are a lot of variegated yarns that knit up beautifully. Also these clothes need to mix and match with lots of other styles.
I have been selling these particular clothes at local markets for years and they sell well. I have over the years developed a pattern style for these dolls that fits really well, and made out of yarns bought at Kmart, The reject shop, Woolworths, Lincraft, Spotlight, $2 shops and the wool shop. I just checked the band for the recommended tension.
There is NO knitting in the round. The sleeves are seamed, as is the centre back seam in patterns 2 & 4. I have used short rows for the beck shaping. Stitch markers are a must in these patterns. I use 5cm long paper clips as stitch markers. They are easy to get, colourful and don’t break, also they are easy to replace if lost.
They are raglan patterns and I find them to be a better fit for slightly differing sizes. These dolls’ bodies are not all the same, but very similar in sizing. I have tried to create a size that fits most.
If you find the finished garment a little big for your doll, then drop a needle size, and if it is a little small then up a needle
