    About the Author

    Foreword

    Psalm 37:3

Trust in the Lord and do good.

Dwell in the land and enjoy safe pastures.

Colleagues, looking for answers and solutions to challenges (both at work and in their lives), who leave Hope's office armed and ready to tackle those challenges—after seeking Hope.

Parents, overwhelmed by parenting and life, who now lift their heads and their eyes toward a different future—after encountering Hope.

Students, who now believe in themselves enough to change their life, their circumstances and ultimately the world—after being blessed by Hope.

These are just some of the things that I have observed Hope Gibson accomplish daily over the years that I have known her.

I met Hope Gibson 4 years ago, after being told by my principal that, You're going to really like the Dean of Students here. She is just like you, no nonsense, and really cares about the kids. Those words were true about Hope then and are still true today.

    Psalm 37:4

    Take delight in the Lord,

and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Hope Gibson is aptly named. I have literally watched her give and share hope with everyone that she encounters while working in the educational system of the metropolitan Detroit area. Hope for the future, hope for the plans that they may have, and hope that life can and will get better.

I have personally observed Hope address a challenge, organize a team around that challenge and quickly get to the root of the issue and develop strategies to face and to overcome the challenge. During the 2020–2021 school year, an extremely challenging year, in which our school district, like many others across the globe, were thrust into the virtual setting, it was often Hope who organized and/or instituted innovation, creativity and energy into the entire school community. One of the more important policies that Hope encouraged was the understanding and implementation of self-care by the staff; something that is still being regularly discussed, encouraged, and practiced by the staff.

    Psalm 37;23

The Lord makes firm the steps

of the one who delights in him.

The book that you now hold in your hands was supposed to be finished in 2020, however like many things planned for the last three years, it has had starts, stops, holds, and changes. However, it is now here and Hope's voice and ability to offer simple solutions to complex problems will bless every reader of this book in special ways.

Hope accomplishes this with an intentionality and confidence that is rooted in her faith—a faith demonstrated and lived out every day by walking boldly in who she is and whose she is. To paraphrase John 1: 6-8,

6 There was a woman sent from God, whose name was Hope. 7 She came as a witness, to bear witness about the light, that all might believe through her. 8 She was not the light but came to bear witness about the light.

I am honored and grateful to have been chosen to write the forward for this important book, Unwavering Hope, and I am confident that the words and voice of my friend Hope Gibson, will bless you now and into the future.
