In 2003, my mother Janice Chmela was given a terminal diagnosis of lung cancer. Before she passed away, she began writing a book about her life and entrusted me with the task of completing it if she couldn’t. I promised her that I would see her project through to the end. However I must confess that to this day, that book is still not finished.

So, why start another book? This book was not a promise made to anyone, especially not my late mother. Yet, the fact that you hold it in your hands today means that I did in fact complete it.

This book is dedicated in loving memory to my incredible Mom who loved me through the toughest of times. The book demonstrates exactly how I was able to overcome self-doubt, procrastination, writer’s block, distractions, self-sabotage, and not being a very good writer and not being very well organized. The reader will see exactly how I was able to complete the book with the help of AI in just a handful of days and the reader will retain the lessons that were learned along the way.

Lastly, completing this book has paved the way for me and my Dad to partner up and finally complete Mom’s book after all these years.

I know, Mom, I’m incorrigible.

Full-disclosure. My experience on this platform is on par with others, which isn’t a significant feat considering its brief existence. Despite that, I’ve taken part in a 2-day intensive training session, explored the interface whenever possible, consumed TikToks, Reels, and Shorts continuously, and discussed it with everyone I’ve met. I began writing this book by documenting a series of dialogues between myself, John Chmela, and ChatGPT, the AI language model. My goal was to showcase ChatGPT’s conversational abilities and gain a deeper understanding of its capabilities and benefits through its responses to my inputs. As I explored the language model further, I discovered that it not only provided superior answers to my questions compared to any human, but it also had the ability to formulate questions more effectively. I started using ChatGPT to help frame my questions before inputting them for a response. Every word of this book has been probed by the ChatGPT AI language model, much like a spellchecker.

For instance, the paragraph you are reading has undergone multiple modifications from its original form that I submitted to ChatGPT. The advanced AI language model has performed a spellcheck, grammar check, and punctuation correction, and has also refined my wording to enhance its clarity and flow, all within microseconds, without changing the intended message

ChatGPT, writing the introduction to a book can be a challenging and pressure-filled task. It’s important to create an introduction that captures the reader’s attention and gives them an idea of what to expect in the coming pages. However, if the introduction falls short, it can discourage the reader from continuing on.

That being said, I have decided to focus on writing the rest of the book first and then revisiting the introduction once the entire book is complete.
