Introduction
There are three compelling reasons why we should wholeheartedly embrace humility: our divine creation, our inherent sinful nature, and our unwavering spiritual commitment. As individuals created in the likeness of God, it is our divine duty to reflect the remarkable humility exemplified by Jesus. By doing so, we not only acknowledge humility as the key to reclaiming our rightful position but also affirm its significance in our journey of restoration. Additionally, our inherent imperfections require us to embrace the redemptive love that resides within us. Through expressing humility and devotion, we can discover the presence of Christ within ourselves. Lastly, our spiritual devotion urges us to remain open to diverse perspectives and foster meaningful connections, enabling us to learn from our shortcomings and cultivate personal growth.
The conventional approach to religious instruction has placed disproportionate emphasis on the second aspect, leading some to embrace the extreme belief that persistent sinning is indispensable for humility. Others have erroneously held the notion that self-condemnation is the key to attaining humility. This narrow focus has resulted in a deficiency within the Christian community, as believers have not been adequately guided to grasp the innate, exquisite, and blessed state of being nothing in relation to The Spirit that resides within us, thus enabling Him to embody everything. Therefore, we must strive to discern the true essence of humility and act accordingly.
The divine connection between us and God is established through our willingness to accept His grace and unconditional love. We can cultivate a deeper relationship with Him through prayer, meditation, and studying the scriptures. Furthermore, we should seek guidance from trusted mentors who will help us bridge the gap between spiritual understanding. With a sincere heart, we can turn to Jesus and ask for the strength to serve Him faithfully. When our hearts are open and humble, we can understand His love more profoundly and move closer to achieving divine connection.
Philippians1: 21 For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.
It is crucial to emphasize that the primary catalyst for profound humility is not Sin, but rather Grace. The soul acknowledges its inherent imperfections and is compelled by the magnificence of God's glory, His Son, Christ, who resides within us. Through genuine humility, we wholeheartedly surrender ourselves to Christ, our Savior. Paul's letter to the Philippians is a testament that living for Christ personifies humility. True submission involves surrendering ourselves to His divine will. As we embrace this perspective and endeavor to manifest His love in every facet of our lives, we establish a profound connection with Him. By becoming more cognizant of our own divinity, we recognize our reliance on Him and are reminded of His unwavering love. In doing so, we immerse ourselves in the depths of His grace and discover our true home in Him.
In my reflections, I have intentionally focused on the virtue of humility for numerous compelling reasons. Firstly, religious teachings underline the inseparable connection between humility and Sin. Secondly, I firmly believe that prioritizing this aspect is indispensable for leading a truly fulfilling Christian existence. To follow the example of Jesus' humility, we must understand the underlying principles that define it. These principles serve as the foundation upon which we strive to walk in the footsteps of Jesus, aligning ourselves with the divine consciousness of Christ within us. Through this process, we can form a genuine bond and allow ourselves to experience the unparalleled joy that emanates from a deeper communion. The boundless grace of Christ awaits us in such an intimate union, providing our souls with their destined homes.
Humility is not simply a consequence of Sin, as some mistakenly believe. It is, in fact, a virtue that encompasses the profound beauty and blessedness of Heaven. Just as Jesus discovered the glory of The Father in Himself, we too should wholeheartedly embrace the truth that there is nothing greater than allowing the divine presence of The Holy Spirit to fill us completely. By doing so, we become devoted servants and compassionate helpers to all. As we strive to faithfully serve, our connection with The Father is restored, and we embody a life of true humility, reflecting His miraculous grace. Let us find comfort in knowing that regardless of our background, the Father's eternal love graciously awaits us.
Matthew 25:35 For I was hungry and you gave me something to eat, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you invited me in, 37 I needed clothes and you clothed me, I was sick and you looked after me, I was in prison and you came to visit me.’
As we delve deeper into the concept of humility, we begin to grasp its profound significance that goes beyond repentance. Humility represents our active engagement in the life of Jesus and serves as a genuine testament to our inner nobility. To truly embody our inherent greatness, we must strive diligently to selflessly serve others. In doing so, we fulfill our divine purpose as men, created with the Spirit of Christ, who perfectly reflects the likeness of The Father. Jesus himself declared with great emphasis that whatever kindness and service we offer to the least among us, we do it unto Him, as Christ resides within those we assist. Therefore, each act of kindness and service becomes an opportunity to honor Christ and undergo an inner transformation that reflects our faith.
Genesis 1:27 So God created man in his (God) own image, in the image of God he (God) created him (Christ); male and female he (God) created them (Christ).
It is disheartening to witness the frequent neglect of humility as a defining attribute of a follower of Jesus. Humility should permeate all aspects of our lives: from preaching and daily interactions to social and familial contexts, fellowship with fellow believers, and the pursuit of Christ's work. It should be esteemed as the foremost virtue, the bedrock upon which all other Graces are established, and an indispensable requirement for genuine communion with Christ.
Jesus, in His exemplary nature, embodied these qualities, providing us with a profound understanding of what is necessary to be fully illuminated by the Light that enlightens all humanity: CHRIST. Therefore, let us remember and find solace in the words of Paul: Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility, value others above yourselves
(Philippians 2:3).
As devout Christians, it is paramount for us to deeply understand and embrace the significance of meekness and humility. Even when faced with criticism regarding our perceived lack of modesty, it is our duty to earnestly strive to embody these virtues. Through these noble qualities, we, as followers of the gentle and humble Lamb of God, are truly recognized. By wholeheartedly dedicating ourselves to serving The Lord and humbling ourselves, The Holy Spirit will manifest in all our endeavors. In both our triumphs and setbacks, let us remain aware of the unifying power of The Father's boundless love. Let us walk in the footsteps of Jesus, who, through His own humility, was exalted above all. Amen.
