About this ebook
Scavenger: The Chest of King Hargor is part one of my novella series. It is about a young lord, Rinus MacFadden, who grew up in royalty from Hargor City (City), New Belford (State), Republic Kingdom (Country), Eterra (Continent).
At the age of five, Skalbator Uzili and the Anti-Monarchs murdered Rinus's family during an inaugural ceremony, where his father, Prince Argo II, was set to succeed his grandfather, King Argo I, and become the new king of the city. Rinus's older brother, General Argo III, was also slain by Skalbator after twenty years of becoming rogue in the kingdom.
Once again, he has caused harm to his family, so Rinus decides to go on a scavenger quest to seek revenge. He then made two new friends along the way, Owar the Owl of the Wise from the Black Forest and Elspeth Watterson from Breckenridge (a small village outside of Hargor City). They go on a scavenger hunt to find the hidden chest of the Great King Hargor, the first King of Hargor City.

About the Author
Chapter 1
The Inaugural Massacre
It all happened over nineteen years ago when Skalbator Uzili and the Anti-Monarchs invaded the Hargor Empire ruled by King Argo I and Queen Lily at the time. Every civilian of Hargor City was called upon by the king and queen to meet at the throne hall at sunset because he had a big announcement. King Argo I w alked outside to the training field, and he saw Skalbator working hard on his swordsmanship as usual.
Young Master, your blade skills have gotten really impeccable. Even better than your comrades, my son, Prince Argo II, and General Hezar. I think you may surpass me,
King Argo I said.
Thank you, teacher! I just want to be like you one day,
said Skalbator.
Maybe you will one day. You have a chance to become a great leader one day, perhaps even king. That is why I came out here to talk to you. I need you to be at the throne hall. I have a public announcement to make. See you at sunset,
he said.
The leader of the knights, General Hezar Cromartie got on his horse and circled around the gated areas and watchtowers to round up all the knights who were on guard. Everyone, listen up! It is urgent! Be at the throne hall at sunset. The king has an announcement. Don't be late!
he yelled.
Back at the castle, Prince Argo MacFadden II, Princess Agatha MacFadden, and Lady Idra Cromartie had their hands full while trying to make sure everything was prepared and organized for the big announcement. It was hard to do that if you had to keep an eye on two little rascals who could cause trouble at any moment.
Idra, I want you to hang the banner up on the balustrade. Wait! Where's Argo III and Rinus?
Agatha asked.
She ordered everyone to keep working while she looked for them. It did not take long for her to find them. They were in the foyer, hanging off the stairs.
Duke of Hargor, Argo MacFadden III, and Rinus MacFadden, get down from there!
Prince Argo II walked through the door.
Daddy!
the children yelled with excitement.
Good, you're here. Take the kids upstairs and get them cleaned up for the announcement,
she said.
I love you too, honey,
said Prince Argo II as he walked up to her and kissed her before heading upstairs.
Ew! Yuck!
said Argo III and Rinus.
All right, kiddos. Let's get you cleaned up,
Argo II said.
It was time for the big announcement. Everyone was in full attendance. In attendance, we had the royal family, which consisted of the Royal Council Committee (king, queen, bishop, warden, adviser of treasury, and general), prince, princess, lords, generals, lieutenants, masters, doctors, housekeepers, groundskeepers, butlers, chefs, blacksmiths, and stagecoaches. Plus, we had to include the rest of the citizens of Hargor City. Sitting on the throne on stage were obviously King Argo I and Queen Lily. Next on the front row on the left aisle of the throne hall seating were the remaining Royal Council Committee: Bishop Arthur Wellington, Warden Max Calloway, Advisory of Treasury Margaret Bell, and General Hezar. On the front row on the right side of the aisle were Prince Argo II; Skalbator; Princess Agatha; Lady Idra, who was the wife of General Hezar; Duke of Hargor City, Argo III; Rinus; and Sir Elrick Cromartie, son of General Hezar and Lady Idra.
King Argo stood up and spoke, Ladies and gentlemen, 'tis I, King Argo MacFadden I. I am glad that everyone could make it here tonight. For forty-eight years, each and every single person living throughout Hargor City, I considered family. But the time has come. That's why I am here tonight to stand before you to announce that I will be resigning as King of Hargor City.
Everyone in the crowd gasped in complete shock when they heard the news. The king continued to go on with the announcement while everyone lost focus because they were still trying to process what was happening right now.
As I was saying, the Royal Council Committee, including the queen and I, will announce a new king very shortly. So, everyone, let's come to a halt. Butlers will walk down each aisle to serve you our finest delicatessens that our wonderful chefs prepared for us. The Royal Council Committee is going to tally up the votes by the people with the input of our votes very quickly. We will return back in ten minutes, and a new king will be named.
While the committee was deciding, Prince Argo II had an emotional conversation with Skalbator.
"I knew father was going to step down but not this early. You know the votes came down to us three on who should reign Hargor City: you, me, and, of course, our good friend Hezar. But Hezar has already told me he would not accept that position. He feels very comfortable with his role as a general and a member of the Royal Council Committee. Plus, he said he has ‘to step in big to fill his great-grandfather's shoes. It's just too much pressure.' I
