The new King was formally proclaimed monarch in a centuries-old ceremony held in the historic surroundings of St James’s Palace on 10 September.
Accompanied by the Queen Consort and joined by his heir, the new Prince of Wales, he addressed the Accession Council – a group of more than 200 Privy Counsellors, including six former Prime Ministers – in the state rooms of the Tudor palace.
