    Women and children wailed in the streets of Umera as Fadah returned and made his way to the great courtyard. The fighting hadn’t started yet, but a knowingness of what was to come made its way through the ever-darkening city thick enough to unsettle the most brazen warriors. Wisdom was a curse for those who saw what was happening. The return of their ambassador had ended poorly. In truth, the peace talks were doomed to fail regardless of whom had been sent. This wasn't about war or peace but righting wrongs that could never be forgiven without bloodshed.

    Death was in the air, and it was coming soon.

    Outside of the inner-city walls the temples and towers of a once-mighty people lay in ruins. Heavy stones brought low were the precursor of what was to follow.
