About this ebook

I used to be so broken, but not anymore. Now I'm stronger, wiser, and more beautiful than before because God took my broken pieces and made me new again. I don't follow any crowd, and I don't fit the mold because being like the world isn't my goal. My trust is in the Lord, and I long for much more than anything this world could ever have in store--words from a woman who was broken.

    About the Author

My late husband Bobby, may you rest in peace knowing that our love will always be eternal and infinite. Our memories of our journey and all that we have shared in thirty-two years of our life will always be treasured in my heart. Until the day comes that we can be together again. Nothing could have prepared me for the task of losing you. I thank God for the wonderful years that we had together. Thank you for being my husband, friend, and superhero through everything. Thank you for just loving me as your wife.

    My Upbringing

I was born on June 27, 1973, to Mildred Ann Thornton and John Basley. As a child, my biological father wasn't around. I was raised by my grandparents who were God-fearing Christians with strong values. We were raised Baptist and had a solid Christian foundation. On Sunday mornings in the Thornton household, we began the day with roll call and family prayer. My grandfather would stand at the bottom of the stairs and call us one by one. My grandparents took us to church every Sunday—we had no choice—and Vacation Bible School was the third week in August.

Train up a child in the way he should go. (Proverbs 22:6)

My grandfather always prepared healthy, nutritious home-cooked meals. My grandparents had rules for all the Thornton children to follow. We couldn't run the streets or hang out with any bad kids in the neighborhood. We had
