About this ebook

"How was the alpha's meeting?" Keal  inquired, rising from his seat and walking over to the mini bar. He poured two drinks and handed one to me, a gesture to ease the tension between us.

"The usual stuff, Keal." i waited patiently for his responds

"Enough with the evasive answers, Ethan. Tell me."

"The Silverwood Pack made a strange request," I admitted.

Keal's eyebrows furrowed in curiosity and concern. "What did they ask for?"

"They needed help to find a wolf who didn't claim his mate," I revealed, hoping Keal would grasp the significance of the situation.

I observed my Alpha's conflicting emotions, realizing that Keal knew exactly what this request meant.

"They have a name," I continued, almost teasingly.

"Enough, Ethan," he finally said, his voice firm yet heavy with emotion.

"You're excused."

    Sweetest Surrender - Bernice Martey

    The Awakening

Meet Lily, a fiery and daring young woman born into the Beta lineage. With a penchant for the great outdoors. She was always ready for an adventure, even if it meant traveling into the scary Silver wood Forest, with her wild hair of curls and her rucksack full of camping gear.

The full moon hung low in the sky one warm summer evening, shedding an ethereal shine on all it touched. Lily and her brother Beta Jake decided to spend the night stargazing and telling ghost stories around a campfire. The fire flared and sparks danced in the darkness as they told each other terrifying stories.

Jake's eyes sparkled as he began a story about the legendary Alpha powerful enough to be born, a hybrid but cursed to be mate less. He was said to reside deep within Silver wood Forest. "They say that when the moon is at its fullest, his wolf emerges from the shadows, it's only on this night that he is blessed by the goddess to prowl through the forest in search of his mate.

Jake playfully growled, teasingly asking, Do you think it's watching us right now? waiting just to claim you.

Lily chuckled, her heart pounding with excitement. Oh, come on, you! It's just a legend, right?

Nope, it's real. I'm afraid the stories about the cursed Alpha are not just a legend, sister. Even though no one has met the famous Alpha before, his pack still exists.

But as the night wore on and the full moon rose higher, a strange sense of unease settled over them. A chorus of distant howls echoed through the woods, causing them to exchange nervous glances. Was it just their imagination, or was something lurking in the shadows?

Suddenly, the air grew still, and an inexplicable energy filled the atmosphere. The hair on the back of Lily's neck stood on end as she sensed a presence nearby. Rustling sounds came from the trees, and her heart raced as she tried to brush off the feeling.

I'm going to get some more firewood, Jake announced, trying to break the tension.

As he ventured into the darkness, Lily leaned in closer to the fire for warmth. Do you think he's out there? She asked her wolf as she listened

I'm not sure, it's just a myth Lily whispered and shook her head, her eyes darting nervously around the forest. Oh, let's not freak out Lia. It's probably just nothing or the wind.

Just as she said that a chilling howl pierced the night air, much closer this time. Goosebumps erupted on Lily's skin as she gripped tightly. Okay, maybe it's time to go back to the town. Jake! She called staring back at where Jake had disappeared to

Before she could make a move, a figure emerged from the shadows, stepping into the moonlit clearing. It was a man, tall and muscular, with dark eyes that seemed to pierce through her souls. But what caught Lily's attention were his eyes it held a lot of unspoken sorrows.

Her heart pounded in her chest as she realized that standing before her was no ordinary man. He was the embodiment of the legend they had just been joking about, how that was possible, she had no idea.

In a mix of fear and fascination, Lily couldn't tear her eyes away from the magnificent man before her. He moved with a primal grace, and the moonlight seemed to dance on his silver gaze, giving him an almost ethereal aura.

Who are you? Lily asked, her voice barely above a whisper.

His gaze softened, his eyes locking with mine in a way that sent shivers down my spine. I am Kael, he replied, his voice deep and resonant. And I mean you no harm.

Her heart fluttered as she found herself drawn to the enigmatic man. There was an unspoken connection between them as if they were bound by something far more powerful. She felt an inexplicable urge to reach out and touch him, to understand the secrets that lay beneath his captivating exterior.

But before she could say or do anything, the sound of footsteps snapped them out of their trance. It was Jake, returning with an armful of firewood, oblivious to the extraordinary encounter that had just taken place.

Kael looked at her one last time, his eyes holding a mixture of longing and regret. Then, with one powerful leap, he disappeared into the depths of the forest, leaving her in awe and wonder.

What was that? Jake asked, bewildered by the sudden tension in the air.

She exchanged a knowing look, her mind swirling with questions and emotions. She couldn't deny that something magical had just unfolded before her eyes. She had found her mate and he's is none other than the legendary cursed Alpha.

    Secrets

The days that followed seemed to drag on forever, each moment filled with thoughts of the enigmatic man I had encountered in the forest—Keal. I couldn't help but find myself daydreaming about his piercing eyes and the way he moved with otherworldly grace. It was as if he had cast a spell on me, igniting a curiosity that refused to be ignored. Everything else around me became a blur, lost in the shadows of my obsession with the man from the campsite.

Life in the pack grounds, being the daughter of a beta, had always been predictable and somewhat monotonous. The routines of training and pack responsibilities left little room for excitement or adventure. But now, the prospect of finding my mate had breathed new life into existence, making even the most mundane tasks feel like a chance to discover something extraordinary.

To occupy my mind and ease the restlessness, I decided to help my best friend at the café that her family owns. Maggie, managed her family's business there, and I thought helping her out would keep my thoughts from wandering back to Keal constantly since I had no idea how to find him.

Hey, Lily, you okay? You look like you're lost in another world, she called out after serving her last client.

I hesitated for a moment, unsure if I should confide in her about my dilemma. Yeah, I'm fine, I finally replied, but she saw right through my facade.

Lily, come on. You can tell me anything. What's bothering you? she insisted, walking over to where I stood with a cup of espresso in hand as I took the cup from her sipping a bit of the drink.

I took a deep breath, feeling the weight of my emotions. I think I found my mate, Meggie, I confessed. Her face lit up with excitement, knowing how significant this discovery was for me, as she had already found hers.

That's incredible, Lily! she exclaimed, joy shining in her eyes. Why don't you look happy then? Isn't he ready to claim you too?

That's the problem, I murmured, my heart heavy. He left right after he sensed Jake approaching.

Maggie furrowed her brow, trying to understand the situation. There was sadness in his eyes as if he carried a burden no one else could understand, I added, remembering the pain I saw in Keal's gaze.

Do you know his name at least? She asked, her mind already spinning with ideas on how to help.

Yeah, he told me his name is Keal, I replied, feeling a mix of emotions.

She placed a comforting hand on my shoulder. I'm so sorry, Lily. Maybe you should talk to your brother about this. As a beta, he might have some influence that could help in finding this Keal.

And then what, Maggie? I sighed, feeling overwhelmed. Can't you see? This is a rejection. Keal doesn't want to be mated to me.

Maggie shook her head, her eyes filled with empathy. Lily, don't jump to conclusions. There could be many reasons why he left. Maybe he's dealing with his issues. You won't know until you talk to him or find out more.

Her words struck a chord within me, and I realized she was right. I couldn't give up so easily on the possibility of a connection with Keal. Perhaps there was more to this than what I knew.

With renewed determination, I decided to seek my brother's advice. As the beta, he might have access to information that could shed light on Keal, and his sudden departure. It was worth a shot, and at least I would know I had done everything in my power to understand the situation.

The next few days, I juggled my responsibilities in the pack with shifts at the café, all while trying to gather the courage to approach my brother about the matter. Each moment was a struggle, but I couldn't let my fear hold me back. If there was a chance to find Keal then I had to take it.
