A Sense of Purpose

A Sense of Purpose is a collection of short stories written within different literary parameters, all of which combine to make four fiction pieces with a similar theme. The unifying message across all four stories is of finding one's purpose. The genres explored in this collection range from fantasy fiction and sci-fi to realism and horror.

 

 

The sci-fi fiction piece, "Just A Thing" tells the story of an android mechanic who is tasked with figuring out a particular android's weird behavior. The analysis is going well until the android starts asking strange questions.

 

 

In the horror-drama piece, "The Gold Necklace," a man and his wife sit on a patio as the police search their house. As they exchange conversation, the man grows irritated at his significant other. With each exchange of words, he is reminded of why he holds her necklace.

 

 

"The Pair of Broken Wings" is a fantasy-action story set in an alternate depiction of the afterlife. War Angel Deirun and Detective Caldi are called upon to investigate the disappearance of a young angel girl in the city of Solaris. The job seems like standard procedure, but harsh events have a strange way of bonding people.

 

 

The fiction-realism piece, "Falling Into Patterns" details the cyclical events of Leo's life. He is trapped in a loop and desperately wishes to escape. His obligations make this dream of his seem impossible until he interacts with an unlikely ally caught in his cycle.
