About this ebook

‘Recalling my initial encounter with a peculiar balloon-like creature that unexpectedly appeared while I was returning home from work in the rural depths of East Sussex, I couldn’t help but think of the infamous “Beast from the East”.
‘When confronted with something unusual, I have a tendency to rationalise it in order to make the experience seem ordinary. However, even after a decade has passed since this incident occurred, the only logical conclusion that remains is that it was undoubtedly an extraterrestrial being.
‘A decade ago, this extraordinary event took place, and I chose not to share it with anyone. Instead, I fabricated a tale about witnessing a luminous object approaching me, which was far from the truth of what I actually encountered. I hesitated to be the first to speak about my experience, fearing the intrusion of cameras and journalists on my doorstep, with no support from others who might have had similar encounters. Hence, I kept my silence all these years. But now, I feel compelled to reveal the truth and share what truly transpired on that momentous day.’

This is a story of a true event which happened in a little village in Sussex whilst driving home from work (I looked after an elderly lady). After shutting her kitchen door, the security light came on, which was an asset when it was dark. But this particular evening it wasn’t dark at all, and as I sat in my car outside I looked right and saw what appeared to be a balloon: a very large balloon with a smaller balloon on top. I sat there wondering and saw them seem to attempt to push open a gate leading into a field and then carry on bumbling along down a lane towards me…

It was dark, and I had finished working for an elderly lady in the countryside, in the middle of nowhere. I had helped her to bed, got her a drink, sorted out her oxygen, and now it was time to leave. I never liked leaving because she lived in the country, surrounded by fields and gates and lanes. So, I made my way downstairs to the kitchen door and got out my torch in order to get to my car before the security light came on, and then it was a deep breath and off. I went up and down the garden rockery, missing the pathway and heading for the car, which now shone like a car in a salesroom.

This night, it wasn’t too dark for some reason, and I was able to see quite clearly the road ahead both ways. My employer lived in a triangle, so I could travel either way, but as I looked right, I was made aware of two large balloons just bumbling along together, and I began to laugh, thinking someone had had a party and let them go, but then I noticed them both stop at a gate and bounce back and forth, obviously trying to push it open. Then they gave up and so started bumbling down the road again towards me and the lane leading down to the crossroads. I began to wonder what this was, so I started the car and drove down the lane ahead. This turned off into another lane, which headed towards a crossroads. I wondered whether our paths might cross, and indeed, as I slowly made my way along the road,
