High Ambitions: Fate Line, #1

About this ebook
Next time you go to your favorite coffee shop and you have money in your wallet to pay for a latte, pick the oldest looking note (if you're lucky enough to have several) and wonder for a second which hands have touched it, at the bottom of which pockets it's been before you hand it to your lovely barista. Wonder which hands will touch it in the future . . . Just wonder for a second, before you take your change.
Our stories begin with an obscenely rich man pushed by very HIGH AMBITIONS . . . (the first of eight stories)

The Starting Line
The heart of the metropolis is in full swing on this November Monday morning. The buildings that stretch to tickle the sky obstruct the view of the sun, at least when the star deigns to make an appearance, as is the case today, and especially in this Month of the Dead during which Mother Nature’s mood is as changeable as if she were suffering from an extreme case of bipolar disorder. The shadows of the concrete giants darken the streets which, at rush hour, are traveled by enough vehicles to create traffic jams. The sidewalks, wedged between buildings and streets, are trodden by thousands of feet that walk, for the most part, with a determined step, since it is necessary to have a specific goal to face the mood swings of our Great Lady of our own free will. On a Monday morning. At rush hour. The sidewalks are therefore teeming with anonymous individuals walking one way or the other, looking straight ahead, precisely into the empty space between the flesh-and-blood ghosts they encounter. Each avoids clashes or collisions by discreet but effective
