Chapter 1: Car Fun

It's been a few days since Aiden offered to take me with him to see his hometown and meet his parents. Part of me is excited to see where he grew up, while the other part is nervous to meet his parents and spend time in their house. It doesn't help that he hasn't clarified what we are, and I don't know if he is going to present me to them as just a friend or something more.

It's 4 PM Friday afternoon, and Aiden and I are loading our bags into his beat-up old Volkswagen hatchback. The thing has seen better days, and I'm pretty sure duct tape is probably holding the thing together at this point, but Aiden is fanatical about his car. Getting into the car, with Aiden driving, we leave and get onto the interstate. It's going to be a four-hour drive to his parent's place from here, so I settle in for the long ride. We're idly chatting with music lightly playing in the background, just talking about whatever comes to mind, and I feel comfortable in his presence. Talking with Aiden isn't hard, and he's very easy to get along with. His easy smile and self-deprecating manner is always amusing to me and makes me feel at home with him.

After a couple hours, I start to feel bored as the dull landscape around us blends and roads are quiet this time of year. We haven't really seen any other cars passing by for a while now, so it's basically just us on the road. An idea comes to mind, and I smirk as I think of
