Once upon a time there was an eight-year-old girl that lived in a small town by the sea. She had everything that could be wished for, but she didn’t have the most important thing – mother. The mother spent only the first two days of Mary's life with her, and the only thing she left her before she passed away was her name - Mary.
Despite being without her mother, the girl lived joyfully. She was raised with love and care. She has been with her dad all these years, who tried to love her for both parents. Also, she was loved by her grandparents, neighbors’ children and even their parents. So, she grew up very gorgeous and kind, and admired by everyone.
Mary looked after Claus, who was the neighbor’s naughty boy, and even his parents could not cope with him. The fellow was found of hide-and-seek, and he sneakily played it, leaving the house and walking alone in the streets until someone caught him. Many times, Mary run out of the yard to catch the child, sought him out on the playground and in other places, then took him home. She was a blessing to his parents.
There was an old lady Cook who was in poor health and believed that everyone wants to fool and steal her money. Although she trusted Mary, so she was the one whom an old lady could give her wallet and let do the shopping, but she did not forget to check the receipt and change.
Like everyone, Mary had a dream. The dream was that Tim, a rude boy, with whom she was not in a good relationship could finally become kind. She has noticed for a long time that he is a little better than he seems, a little more caring and not too evil, but he hides it so well from others that he even became a hooligan’s leader.
Mary was very sympathetic, she helped everyone who asked for help, took care of those who needed it, and cared for those she could not take care of.
So today she was waiting at the playground, where some of Mary’s friends had organised a camp to save an abandoned kitten, they even built a small house for the kitten, also fed it and played with it. On the contrary, there was a problem, the kitten's eyes were sore, and Mary was the only one who was not afraid to drip them with special drops because the kitten was scratching and biting painfully.
Unfortunately, on that day, the girl had to take her lunch to her grandfather, who had been fishing on the seaside since early morning and was perhaps starving.
Mary was in a hurry because many people were waiting for her, so she quickly got ready and grabbed the bag with the lunch that her grandmother had prepared and rushed outside. She knew the way, as her grandpa always fished near the grey stone that is easy to notice. Granny was calm when she sent her granddaughter on her way, she just said:
Don't stay too long, darling, there's something yummy waiting for you
.
If only the grandma had known beforehand what could happen to her precious granddaughter, she wouldn’t have her left go. But without any bad thoughts, she closed the front door after Mary and singing a song she returned to the kitchen and continued kneading the dough.
As for Mary, she was quickly heading away from home, as the way was pretty long. In three minutes, she reached the seafront. She knew the place where her grandfather fished very well, so there was no need to look around. As a result, she didn’t notice that someone was following her, repeating her movements like a spooky shadow.
Mary was completely unaware of the mysterious figure rushing towards her with outstretched arms. She walked in silence for a while, then seagulls started screaming, so she turned around and saw a handsome young man in an elegant suit that was smiling at her.
Good afternoon! The seagulls are screaming so loud, aren’t they? Perhaps, something has happened
- told Mary to the boy kindly.
He murmured something like:
Not yet, not yet
.
Excuse me, what are you talking about?
- wondered Mary.
I see that you haven’t been taught not to talk with strangers
- said the stranger slyly and smiled warmly.
