By noon, in that peculiar hilly wooded area, the wind became hurricane-like. It blew so fiercely that Emil had to hold onto her shiny, silver-tinged pail with her right glove, planted on her round white head.

Though it was dispensable, he himself was securely protected. After all, two large yet still young spruces stood nearby, along with a tall bush, bare of leaves but laden with numerous branches.

A sigh escaped Emil; at that moment, he truly felt despondent. Even though his favourite sight surrounded him—snowdrifts, branches bending under the weight of snow, and a sky full of snowflakes.

It was all because even the most beloved, when too abundant, can become tiresome. For three days straight, snow had been falling incessantly in the woods. Today, it wasn't just falling; it was frolicking back and forth. The wind carried the earlier-settled snowflakes while also catching the flying ones, refusing to let them land.

I caught you, big and small! echoed from somewhere, one could say, afar.

So, it seemed to Emil, but Sol stood right beside him. Yet, the wind carried Sol's words in the other direction, along the small fir trees and the large, branching oak, farther into the darkest depths of the forest.

    Where are you?!
