Wax Heroes

This volume of poetry reflects the periods of profound anxiety, uncertainty and fear during a time when the author was confronted with very challenging obstacles. The spontaneous reminiscence brings up different meanings and aspects of our lives. The work is a meditation about our existences and their senses and about our roles and our relations with the people that we love. It is also about the revelations of maturity that give our mentors and societies' heroes different meanings. Some of the heroes' images will melt down showing them as "Wax Heroes". Many malefic forces in the society are proved to have behind them human characters.

Ted Volcin

Ted Volcin wrote and translated poetry during the years in different literary journals and anthologies. He is fluent in several languages and worked as a healer for people who are compelled to confront with mental health problems. This is his second volume of poetry. He lives in the state of Ohio with his wife and two daughters.

E lumea care s-a schimbat ?

   Sau eu încet mă schimb

Curgând în ceasuri reci

   De adânc

Ca o clepsidră cu nisip vâscos

Tot fără lacrimi plâng

E lumea care s-a schimbat ?

Grăbită

Poate

   Supra digitală

În magma entropiei

      Alunecând

   Raze de informație

   Se întorc

Idei

   O formă colectivă

De iluzii

Iar geniile

   Imaginare noduri

Dintr-o reţea albastră siderală

Nu ne schimbăm

Suntem pe veci aceaşi

În pecete

de timp pe care-l inventăm

În izolare sânt statornic

Inventez trecutul

Acum iubesc tot ce-am trădat

Şi mai puţin

   Tot mai puţin

Visez şi-mi ascult trupul

Am fost poate cândva

   În altă viaţă

Un actor umil

Sau un călugăr misionar

Disecând sensuri

Pierdut

În a Golgotei umbre

   în îndoieli majore

În taine dulci

Care se ascund

În trupuri

Curgând încet

Spre nicăieri

Slujind idei şi vise

Trei continente

Limbi şi mări

Prin care valuri trec

Și mor

În reci tipare

Trec în cuvânt şi se prefac în sare

Trec în cuvânt şi apoi se-ntorc

Has the world changed?

Or it is I who’s slowly changing?

Sliding into cold hours in the depths

Like mud into a sand glass clock

Crying without tears

Has the world changed?

Flooded by information

Always in a hurry

Tipping toward entropy’s magma

Where from

The new ideas are evolving

Proved to be often collective illusions

The geniuses becoming knots into a blue,

celestial network

We do not change

In many ways

We are the same forever inside the seal of reinvented time

I am the same inside myself

Reinventing my past

I now love things I did betray

And less and less I listen to my drives

I was perhaps into another life a humble actor

Or a missionary monk dissecting meanings
