Origami and more. Papercraft projects galore! - Susie Hodge
Introduction
Jumping Frogs
Origami is the Japanese art of paper folding. It has fascinated millions of people since it was invented in the eighth century.
In this book, you will find all sorts of ideas for making cards, animals and other fun items by folding paper. Some are traditional origami designs, while others involve some cutting, gluing and decorating as well.
The materials supplied with this book can be used to make almost all of the designs featured. A few of the models need larger sheets of paper or card. Of course, you can use different papers and card in other colours, textures and sizes to make any of the items in this book.
All the projects are illustrated with clear step-by-step pictures and instructions. Some are easy, while others are a little harder, so take your time, read the instructions and study the pictures carefully. Don’t worry if your first efforts aren’t perfect; keep practising and soon you will be an expert!
MATERIALS
Snazzy Box
The sheets of paper and the cards are perfect for the origami and other projects in this book. If you want to add to the materials, you can buy special origami paper from art and craft shops, or you can use any paper that is thin and easy to fold, such as wrapping paper, or any thin card for the pop-up cards. You will also need the scissors, glue and coloured pencils for several of the designs.
TIP
It’s best to keep all these materials just for your origami projects. Store them safely in the box so you don’t lose them.
Basic Techniques
When making any kind of folded-paper project, always work on a firm, flat surface, such as a clean table or desk. If you need to use glue or paints, lay down sheets of newspaper first
