About this ebook

"The Passing Hour: A Guide to Help You Maximize the Season," a book that takes you on an astonishing journey of spiritual awakening, spiritual growth, and embracing the power of the present moment.

It is all too easy to get caught up in the fast-paced rhythm of our modern life and lose sight of the enormous significance of each passing hour. The season and hours in the world today call for sober reflection of happenings around us so we will not be caught unaware like in the days of Noah.

We must be men and women of vision like Issachar children who were men that understood the times, to know what Israel ought to do; the heads of them were two hundred; and all their brethren were at their command 1 Chronicle 12:32

The book is a call for revival, a call to return back to God, a call not to lose our guard for even the elect are being deceived: a call to get our stuff together and prepare, behold the hour is passing.

"The Passing Hour" is a plea to seize transitory moments and infuse them with meaning, purpose, and a deep connection to the divine. It is a guide who will lead you through a voyage of self-reflection, introspection, and spiritual enlightenment.

    FOREWORD

This book, The Passing Hour by Funke Akinmade, is a rare revival book in such a time as this. It is so powerfully loaded and inspiring that you will hardly be able to put it down once you start reading it until you finish it. The book is packed with scriptures that one can easily comfort himself with in the absence of the Bible. It is a must-read for anyone who wishes to be on fire for Jesus Christ.

    INTRODUCTION

1 Chronicles 12:32 describes the tribe of Issachar as "men who had understanding of the times, to know what Israel ought to do."

In this chapter of the Bible, David was gathering an army together at Hebron from tribe to tribe. While the rest of the nation of Israel was in confusion over what to do next, they were all aware that David had been anointed to be the next king, but with the continued existence of Saul, David was not yet on the throne. But these four men, representing the tribe of Issachar, had an unusual gift of discernment, which distinguished them from others. Their understanding made known to the King that the sons of Issachar knew what Israel ought to do. They were aware of the situation that the country was in at the time. The gift of discernment is valuable in times of uncertainty. Most people are so preoccupied with their personal daily lives that they cannot properly discern the time.

And do this, knowing the time, that now it is high time to awake out of sleep; for now our salvation is nearer than when we first believed. The night is far spent, the day is at hand. Therefore let us cast off the works of darkness, and let us put on the armor of light. Let us walk properly, as in the day, not in revelry and drunkenness, not in lewdness and lust, not in strife and envy. Romans 13:11-13

Apostle Paul emphasizes the need for every believer to understand the circumstances and situations happening around them and discern the time.

In Luke 12:54-56 Then Jesus said to the people, "When you see clouds growing bigger in the west, you say, ‘A rainstorm is coming.’ And soon it begins to rain. ⁵⁵ When you feel the wind begin to blow from the south, you say, ‘It will be a hot day.’ And you are right. ⁵⁶ You hypocrites! You can understand the weather. Why don’t you understand what is happening now?

Many people in the Western world will not leave their homes until they have checked the weather forecast, and many have their seats glued to the television to see what the meteorologist has to say about the weather. Unfortunately, only a few people are looking into the Bible to find out what time it is in the world today.

By the grace of God, this book will open your eyes to a better understanding of the times we live in and what is expected of us even in these difficult times.

    Be blessed as you read.

    CHAPTER ONE

    TIME FOR EVERYTHING.

Sow for yourselves righteousness; reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground, for it is time to seek the Lord, till He comes and rains righteousness on you. Hosea 10:12

Tasha could not believe her eyes. She walked in to meet the entire hall, which was cleared with not even a little food on any of the tables.

What is going on here?! She yelled, almost in tears. I have not had breakfast yet!

Her stomach growled as she walked toward one of the women dressed in
