Schrodinger's Kids and Other Short Stories - Natalia Corres

    Foreword

Onward and upward and here is my foreword… I write, sometimes because a story won’t leave me alone unless it gets written (or told) to someone else…and sometimes because it is the ultimate escapism for me. When the world just seems totally out of control and makes no sense, I go and write one that has rules that I can understand and can cope with. Are my worlds trouble-free? Not at all. They wouldn’t be interesting to play with if they were utopias.

And so I offer you some short tales as respite from the larger world in which we live. Enjoy! And if you like them, please leave a review on Amazon or Goodreads.

Jeff held his breath for a moment before conducting her to his office for the interview.

Again, he waded through the awful feeling of an unwanted do-over and finally arriving, he showed her in and offered her a seat.

As he gathered the pages of her resume, in what felt like a never ending effort, he noticed her eyes for the first time. They seemed like dark orbs, the deep black of space. He felt like he might fall into those eyes, which stared unblinking at him as he was fumbling with paper.

When can you start? he heard himself asking her, as though the entire interview had already taken place.

I already have she answered And it is time for you to move on.

And then he remembered, waking that fateful morning, rushing to get to the office,
