    Poolboy - Blake Cruise

    "S pencer, wake up … Now. "

I groaned, pulling the covers further over my head in order to try and muffle the shrill sound of my mom’s voice from the hallway. After all, it was the first day of summer vacation and I was determined to take things easy. But of course my mother didn’t know the meaning of the word ‘relaxation’ and a moment later my bedroom door slammed open with a deafening bang.

    Spencer, I said WAKE UP.

Mom, I groaned, still hiding beneath the sheets, you know you can’t just barge into my room like that anymore. I’m eighteen …

No matter how much I whined and complained, begged and pleaded, my mom was the kind of lady who simply wouldn’t take no for an answer.

    I guess that’s settled then, I sighed.

Don’t be so gloomy, honey, she grinned. You never know. You might even enjoy yourself. She took another glance at her wristwatch then clapped her hands together. Up you get. I told him you’d be there at nine!

I groaned, knowing my fate was sealed. It looked like my last summer vacation before college was going to well and truly suck ...

After a quick shower and a hurried breakfast, I set out on my bike in the direction of my new job. From the address my mom had given me it seemed as if this guy had moved into one of the really huge, expensive houses right at the top of
