Thirsty for Living Waters - N. I. Zimudo

    CHAPTER 1

There is a river, the streams of which make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early. (Psalm 46:4-5)

T his passage of scripture was written by David the king who in the course of his life faced many troubles. He was a fugitive from a government that sought to kill him and was constantly in fear for his life. He lived in peril of waters, in peril of robbers, in perils of his own countrymen, in perils of the heathen, in peril in the city, in peril in the fields, in peril in the sea, and in peril among false brethren. He found instead that the river of joy gives peace and joy in the midst of the storm. It gives light in the midst of darkness, and joy in the midst of grief.

He therefore concluded that though he walked through the valley of the shadow of death, he would fear no evil; for the Lord was with him, his rod and his staff comforted him. He saw that the Lord prepared a table for him in the presence of his enemies, and anointed his head with oil so that his cup did not run over. And so
