About this ebook

“It’s All About Sally” is the true life story of Sally, a little goat acquired to eat the bushes encroaching on the edge of the lawn. Sally turned out to be an entertaining character as she thought everything was either for her or about her. She was so curious, loving, funny, mischievous and adorable that she became loved by the whole family, especially the grand children. It’s sad that children have no knowledge of the care and connection involved in raising farm animals. When my grandchildren visit they are excited to find eggs to gather or when they make a puddle of water for the piglets to roll in or when they cuddle a baby goat. Thus the inspiration for these stories written as gifts for the grand children. They tell of Sally’s friends, her kids, her rides in the car, and her love of treats and finding her way into the garden to gorge on the plants and berries. Knowledge and surprises are revealed in the pages of, “It’s All About Sally”.

    SALLY SEEKS A FRIEND

Sally goat lives with farmer Kate. She was just a baby when she was brought there and she was the only goat there. Goats like to live in herds with other family members. Sally felt lonely being the only goat in sight.

Gee whiz, she thought as she looked around, this is scary. I need a friend to play with and talk to.

She ran everywhere looking for a companion to make friends with. Finally she jumped on a chair so she could see farther.

As Sally looked around from her perch she spotted a pretty red cardinal sitting under the bird feeder. He was eating seeds that had dropped on the ground.

Maybe he will be my friend, thought Sally.

I’ll go talk to him. It would be neat to have a bird for a friend, then I could get his bird’s eye view of things.

Sally was feeling better already just thinking of having a friend to talk to and play with. So she went and made friends with the cardinal.

Sally didn’t realize birds don’t stay in one place all the time. They fly away and stay for days at a time.

Well, Sally said to herself, I thought Cardinal lived here. It seems he’ll just be a part time friend.

Sally stuck very close to farmer Kate for her companionship and followed her all over the farm. As they went around a corner they met two white chickens.

Hi chickens, said Sally, will you be my friends?
