Teaching children about healthy boundaries enables them to keep themselves safe; it encourages the expression of their needs and wants in constructive ways. It allows them to say ‘no’ to things they don’t feel comfortable doing and stand their ground without feeling guilt or remorse. Teaching them about the importance of setting healthy boundaries is one of the most effective ways to protect our children from physical, emotional, and mental abuse at the hands of others and ensure that they grow up to be independent, assertive, and confident adults.

When someone experiences the violation of a boundary, they become less likely to do the same to someone else. This teaches them tolerance, empathy, and compassion towards others.
