    CHAPTER ONE

    WHY WARFARE?

The first spiritual battle we faced was for our hearts to be turned away from our destructive life toward our Father God. God called and tugged at our hearts until we said yes! Now, we are battling our old ways of thinking by having our minds renewed by the Spirit of Jesus Christ. We are learning His ways for victorious living in the kingdom of God.

THE FATHER, SON, AND HOLY SPIRIT

    ARE FIGHTING FOR US

All facets of the war for our salvation are accomplished because of God’s great love for us. The Father calls us. Jesus paid the penalty for our sins so we could become children of God. Through His Spirit, we are born again and transformed.

We cooperate with Holy Spirit by resisting evil, declaring God’s word, confessing, and asking for His help to fill us and strengthen us. It is the Spirit, not our efforts, who does the miraculous work of transformation in us as we abide in Christ. It can trip us up if we feel it is up to us to be good. Thank God, He is faithful to complete what He began!

Galatians 3:1-3 Oh, foolish Galatians! Who has cast an evil spell on you? ... Let me ask you this one question: Did you receive the Holy Spirit by obeying the law of Moses? Of course not! You received the Spirit because you believed the message you heard about Christ. How foolish can you be? After starting your new lives in the Spirit, why are you now trying to become perfect by your own human effort? (NLT)

John 15:5 I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing. (NKJV)

Philippians 2:13 ...for it is God who works in you both to will and to do
