Area Map
Banff
Family hiking also includes families about to grow, as Nicole Lisafeld proves. Husband Brian Vale and Mary the dog complete the picture.
Banff
Banff’s lure for hikers involves the high number of easy, scenic hikes within short driving distances of one another, not to mention the townsite. No child can resist a visit to one of Banff’s candy stores! Go for a hike or two, stop for dinner and then end the day with a dip at Banff Hot Springs – a perfect family outing.
Driving time from Calgary’s city limits to the Banff townsite is about 1.25 hours. Parking can be difficult to find on busy summer weekends, so expect to walk a little. Note that all hikes in Banff, Kootenay Park and Lake Louise and along Highway 93, require you to have a park pass or day pass. Either can be purchased at the Banff National Park gates, a few kilometres west of Canmore on Highway
