    Karmic Law - Ashok Alexander

    Introduction

What did you observe on last page? Like most of us, we notice the black dot bright and clear. What else? What about 99% blank space? Why does observation get attached to the black spot and not to the overwhelmingly white space? Why does this happen? It happens because we collect information through our sensory organs. Okay, our attention is spotting uniqueness, so what. If all the world sees it that way, it should be enough for our survival. That’s how we are meant to normally and understand, right? For that, we have to explore the essential question if the information is consistent across all times, then that’s fine. Is my understanding all true and as it is, and is the same visible to others too? You may believe yes, that’s what it is, and that is what is truth.

Okay, let us look at it again, imagine all the white space is filled with green balls, and there is one black ball among them in the same spot. What will you say now? We may see the page is filled with green balls and ignore the black ball altogether. Okay, so now the same black ball is irrelevant. Let’s return to the original image and ask another person, an artist who loves the empty canvas. How will he perceive it? Seeing this white sheet with a black dot, he may wonder who spoiled the beautiful white space with that tiny black dot. So the truth is when we say, is what is prominent in our understanding, not what is most visible or true reality. Our understanding confirms our training, our outlook, our nurturing, and our target, but is it aligned with truth, mostly not?

Another example is looking at our body; it appeared solid when we were young. Then as we get older, we learn in schools it is 60% water, so we understand it is more liquid. Now with this new knowledge same body appear somewhat more liquid or at least not as solid as our original imagination. Then we get older into high school we learn another piece of information which says we are over 99 % space, as inside an atom, it is mostly empty. So what are we now? Solid, liquid or space?

Our understanding kept changing with every bit of new information. So we can confidently conclude that everyone sees the same thing differently, based on an individual's knowledge and understanding.

The same applies to societies whether be it health or education or democracy, we are continuously evolving. So okay, we may say so what? That's quite okay for our existence. It might seem reasonable to live based on these common perspectives, right? Since they are widely held and largely accurate believes. However, our personal understanding, being uncertain and prone to change, may again not resonate throughout different life stages or with different individuals or people of different ages.

Having studied the Western approach to education, I am grateful for its vast knowledge and profound insights on various subjects that extend far beyond our everyday needs. Learning about fascinating details such as the varying gravity of the moon due to its size, the deepest trenches in the ocean, or the astonishing diversity of butterflies fills me with awe and curiosity. Similarly, Icelanders can sustain themselves without relying heavily on vegetables. This newfound knowledge sparks wonder and stimulates our inquisitive nature. Often do we wonder why so much of information still not give us a unwavering confidence within us? As it is all information not part of our experience, it is just hear said.

After completing my engineering studies, I feel prepared to venture into the world and secure a well-paying job. However, amidst my aspirations, I have encountered a range of emotions and experiences that leave me puzzled.

Our education mostly revolves around the changing nature of science still raises questions, even the fundamental concepts such as gravity. Similarly, even with something as familiar as water, its properties become a subject of curiosity and uncertainty. These uncertainties extend beyond external phenomena, leading us to question our identities and purpose very. In the face of such unknowns, it becomes challenging to foster confidence in us.

Many aspire to reach the pinnacle of success, striving to achieve financial security and
