A renowned ghost hunter and other paranormal stories - Anirudha Behera
As a renowned ghost hunter
As a renowned ghost hunter, Jack believed that there was a logical explanation for every eerie occurrence in supposedly haunted locations. Anytime he heard tales of strange happenings, he would scoff and claim that it was all just a matter of too-active imaginations. But his skepticism wouldn't last long.
One night, Jack received a phone call from a wealthy client desperate for his expertise in ridding her mansion of an alleged spirit. Jack scoffed at the idea of a ghost infesting a building, but couldn't resist the temptation of such a high-paying job. So, he arrived at the mansion with his usual arrogance and bravado, eager to prove that the ghost was just a figment of the client's imagination.
As night fell, Jack was alone in one of the mansion's rooms, searching for any signs of paranormal activity. Despite hours of scanning the room with his EMF detector, he found nothing out of the ordinary. But as the clock struck midnight, the room's temperature dropped drastically, and Jack felt an icy chill slither through his body.
All of a sudden, he heard strange noises: grunts, moans, and the sound of tapping footsteps moving closer and closer. Jack's bravado vanished, replaced by an overwhelming sensation of fear. As he searched for the source of the eerie sounds, he found himself in a completely different room from the one he started in.
Shaken and petrified, Jack soon discovered that he had been locked in the house. It became clear to him that he had no way of leaving and he was stuck in the haunted mansion for the rest of the night.
Huddled in a corner, Jack cowered, clutching his EMF detector like a lifeline. He tried to rationalize everything, blaming his phobia on the lack of sleep or some other distraction. However, as the night wore on, and the sinister occurrences escalated, Jack realized that there was no logical explanation to what he was experiencing.
The walls of the mansion shook, and objects moved about the rooms without any physical intervention. Jack's nerves were frayed, and his heart raced uncontrollably. Finally, at the break of dawn, Jack heard the unlocking of the mansion’s front door. Exhaling pure relief, he dashed out of the haunted house, never once looking back.
After such an encounter, Jack knew that he needed to reset his entire perspective regarding the supernatural. He realized that sometimes, a ghost encounter is not a figment of one's imagination. From that day onwards, Jack began his journey as a true ghost hunter with a newfound trust in the possibility of the unknown.
As I slowly regained consciousness
As I slowly regained consciousness, I realized that I was not in my comfortable bed at home. The first thing that jumped to my sight was an intricate, towering castle, enclosing me from all directions. It was like nothing I had ever seen before, with tall turrets, winding staircases, and intricate arches.
But I wasn't able to recall how I got here. The last thing on my mind was a blur – something about going to sleep and waking up in this strange place.
As I made my way down the winding hallways, I became more aware of a foreboding energy. The walls were lined with macabre paintings, and I could
