INTRODUCTION:

The Divinity of Numbers

There is divine energy not only within us but also in everything around us. Our world—plants, stones, colors and dates on our calendars, cardinal directions, and celestial bodies—is teeming with rich symbolism and messages from the divine. Perhaps it is no wonder that even the rather logical field of mathematics can hold mountains of spiritual meaning. We might think that the logical and regimented discipline of mathematics would hold no room for things like destiny, spirituality, or divine intervention. However, both the logos and the ethos of our world are more interconnected than we might expect. Take the Fibonacci sequence, for example. Each number is the sum of the previous two numbers before it. Fibonacci starts as 0, 1, 1, 2, 3, 5, 8, 12, 21, and goes on to infinity. This sequence creates the golden ratio of phi or 1.61803 (Dvorsky 2013).

You may ask why this number is important, especially in a book about angel numbers. Well, let me explain. The golden ratio creates a spiral that perfectly correlates with the composition of most things in nature. The most perceptible instance of this golden ratio is the nautilus shell, which illustrates this spiral perfectly. Other places in which the golden ratio is illustrated include spiral galaxies, pine cones, flowers, our very DNA, and even the most attractive of faces. Many mathematicians, artists, and designers have felt that this sequence, due to its precise structure and constant presence in nature, is almost cosmically determined.

Nearly all of the most beautiful things in our universe are somehow derived from this ratio. Even the molecules that make up our DNA follow this Fibonacci sequence. It would make sense, then, that all of our experiences are in some way inspired, caused by, or confirmed by numbers. And that perhaps, sometimes these numbers come from divine entities of power.

What Are Angel Numbers?

Some of the most powerful numbers in this world are angel numbers. As the name suggests, these numbers come to us from our angels and therefore, carry a great deal of divinity in their meanings. Angel numbers contain messages sent to us from our angelic guides. Our angels consider these messages vital for us to receive.

What exactly is an angel number? It is usually a repetitive sequence of numbers, which you observe in quick succession. These numbers are generally in three- or four-digit sequences, although single and double-digit messages are not entirely uncommon. They may contain the ten cardinal numbers (0–9) or the three master numbers (11, 22, and 33). By combining the meanings behind each digit, we can begin to understand and interpret the message and meaning of a sequence. Depending on the position of each number in the sequence, the context of the message may change. It may reveal different details about the situation, such as the cause, effect, and overall impact of the message when manifested.

What Are Their Purposes?

Angel numbers and numerology generally are divinatory practices. Divination is a term that covers a broad assortment of various methods and systems people use to seek or ascertain guidance and to connect with the divine. Through practices like tarot reading, palmistry, dice reading, and tasseomancy (tea leaf reading), people can identify patterns, contact spiritual entities, connect with the universe, reach across realms of consciousness, look inward, and draw conclusions on what is to come.

The main purpose of angel numbers, however, is to act as vehicles for our guardian angels and spirit guides so that they can reach across spiritual realms and impart divine messages and guidance to us. Throughout the course of this book, you will learn how to use these numbers, not only as a form of divination but also as a way to become more receptive to angelic signs, which are already flowing in the universe around you.

Why Numbers?

Perhaps you are wondering why our angels cannot simply materialize before us or speak with us directly. It is possible for angels to make themselves known via our mind’s eye, or in other ways, during meditative practices. But it is much simpler for these incorporeal beings to send us messages directly by drawing our attention to something in our physical world. They do not possess physical bodies. They are entities of pure spirit. We also exist in different realms: We are in the terrestrial world while they are in the spiritual one. This means that we require symbolism, intuition, and sensory experiences to bridge the communicative divide.

Everything around us is composed of energy, and it has a vibrational frequency. People and objects in the physical world often carry a denser vibration than those from the divine realm. This often necessitates utilizing various forms of outreach and communication, which may initially not appear as overt or familiar to many of us. However, as we are able to observe or understand numbers, regardless of how high or low our energy is, numbers are the perfect way for spirits to reach us.

Especially for people who are so distracted by their physical experiences that they are not attuned to the spiritual realm, it is much more fitting for angels to reach out using the space we already occupy. Because numbers are everywhere and play such a significant role in our daily lives, it is through their vibrational resonance that angels often most easily alert us to their presence.

Knowing Where to Look

Often when we feel like our plea for signs from the universe has gone unheard, it is because we are looking but not necessarily seeing. Our imaginations run wild. We assume a real sign must be this grand, fantastical gesture—something so definitively unreal that we have no choice but to accept it. However, there is magic in the mundane. Remember that our spiritual guides most easily communicate with us by using things in the physical world to relay divine messages.

Start observing the world around you more closely. Consider patterns that seem too perfect to be coincidences, especially ones that form when you are seeking answers. You will often find your angel numbers there. They can come from nearly anywhere: the timestamp in a song, clocks, addresses, bank statements, and shopping totals at checkout. Other places could include your phone’s battery level, the season or episode of a show on TV, license plates, a page in a book, and city signage. You may also visualize these numbers in dreams or during meditation sessions. The possibilities are in fact endless! It all depends on where your angels think they can best snag your attention.

Any place where you may encounter a number is where a message can come through. That’s not to say every number you see is a nudge from the divine. Still, it is important to take notes of patterns you see, what is going on in your life when you see them, and when you have those I-just-know feelings or intuitive nudges.

What’s to Come: Gaining Mastery

of Angel Numbers

To truly understand the essence of angel numbers, we must first build a strong foundational knowledge about a few things. As with all spiritual practices, it is vital that we learn to trust our intuition and distinguish between fate and circumstance. Next, we should know more about these guides who are trying to contact us and how we can make ourselves more receptive to their energies. Finally, at the core of it all, we must acquaint ourselves with numerology as a divinatory tool. Knowing a number’s universal correspondence and the way it can define our own perceptions of ourselves is crucial to our capacity to understand the way each numerological interpretation can help us grow.

Now, it is time for your journey to begin. Whatever has brought you here and piqued your interest in this subject was meant to be. SECTION 1:

TRUSTING OUR INTUITION

Before we can interpret messages and take them to heart, we must first learn how to value our own intuition and the vital role it plays in our reception of spiritual guidance. Though there are universally accepted meanings for numbers and results in divination, there is also much to learn from our own reactions to divine signs. For example, in a tarot reading, the symbolism on each card and the way we react emotionally to them are just as important as the card’s defined meaning. By trusting the powerful personal connections that we form upon seeing the card, we may very well be getting a much more accurate reading than if we followed the cookie-cutter translation.

Why is intuition so important? Intuition is truly a gift that keeps on giving. The ability to sense what is right, best, or even when something is off and raises a red flag can prove to be invaluable. I am certain many of us have either heard or read countless stories of someone sharing that they just had a feeling something was not right. The person trusted that feeling, only to find their intuition was absolutely right. It helped avert a major disaster. Being able to trust and act in alignment with our intuition has even helped save lives in some instances.

It is important to note that many of us are highly intuitive but often struggle to operate in alignment with the information we receive. That disconnect between our intuition and our actions may happen for many reasons. However, some of the most common to be aware of include these.

1. Unwillingness

You may be unwilling to accept the information you are receiving because it is incongruent with your current, lower, more-comfortable, familiar, and preferred course of action. This may sound like you. If you resist, are unwilling to listen to your intuition, or act in accordance with it because your current relationship, job, circumstances, or life feels more favorable, please trust and know that your intuition is always steering you toward the best circumstances for you. Avoiding resistance is typically best and for your benefit.

2. Fear

Fear is a common culprit that interferes with our ability to adhere to our guidance. When fear takes hold, it creates major disruptions and manufactured roadblocks. We often feel it is too late to make the adjustments that we may be called on or guided to make. There is often a fear that we may create delays or cause consternation in our lives by following the information we are very clearly receiving. The fear we may feel is normal. Often, fear is generated when the guidance feels like a major upheaval or departure from the familiar. I encourage you to use your best judgment and work to dissect your fear from your intuition. If something is calling internally to you, you know it is truly for your highest good, and it is best for those around you, consider following that information.

We often hear our intuition loud and clear, and almost immediately, we’ll have a second thought, which discourages the first thought. The thought that is working overtime to silence your innermost voice is fear. Try to accept fear as a normal reaction to change or adjustments. Then, as much as possible, continue pushing forward one small step at a time. Do not worry if at first, it feels like you take two tiny steps forward and then one leap back or you oscillate between moving toward something new and then back to the old for a bit. This is a normal part of progress. Do not be deterred during the in-between stages of propelling yourself forward. Do not allow fear to keep you from trusting and acting on your guidance and intuition to the best of your ability.

Too many of us allow fear to silence our intuition. This buries our light, our gifts, and the help we can bring to this world. It contributes further to the misalignment of this planet. Acknowledge the fear that may arise as the guidance comes in and embrace it as something to be accepted on your journey. In fact, if fear pops up, invite it on the journey for the time being. Allow it to take a back seat and then continue forward as best you can. Soon, you will forget that fear was present at all and dismiss it for good.

3. Inability

Some of us have strong intuitions. But in a world that often relies solely and almost explicitly on what can be proven, it is easy and common to begin struggling with our abilities to listen to our guidance, which is that innermost voice, and respond accordingly. Like anything else, it is important to find opportunities to practice following our guidance and trusting those nudges we are receiving.

4. Apathy

We hear the messages, we are listening, and we know what actions we need to take, but we often feel too tired, too busy, too overwhelmed—too everything—to truly listen to our own intuition or take actions that are aligned with the guidance and information we are receiving. If apathy is what you are feeling, it is a good time to take a break. In a world that demands so much from us, feeling tired, overwhelmed, and unmotivated, even when you know what you need to do, is completely normal. I, too, have fallen into this category at one time or another. Many of these mentioned categories overlap with one another. The important thing is to find rest when we need it and to ask God or a higher, divine Source that you find comfort in to replenish, renew, and restore us. Remember that we can always ask for help or a remedy anytime we need it and trust that it will be done.

There are many reasons why you may feel disconnected from your intuition. Taking time to explore and understand what may be hindering your ability to hear your innermost voice and access your guidance will prove to be productive and helpful in the long run. Once you’ve identified any patterns or tendencies you have, it will likely become easier to remedy and mitigate those hindrances as you move forward.

Sometimes with divination, intuition can be that sneaking feeling that we bury, not because we are deliberately intending to but because we are receiving a truth we do not want to admit. Tarot cards often call practitioners out on behaviors that they know are bad but that they would be more comfortable denying. In terms of angel numbers, I see the hard truths manifest more so within our desire for an angelic sign. Perhaps the urge itself for our angels to confirm something points to the exact area in our lives we need to supplement or change.

Think of it like flipping a coin when you are presented with two choices but cannot decide. Usually, the moment we see the coin spinning in the air, we are already subconsciously choosing a side we would prefer. Then as it lands, this subconscious assertion informs our reactions. If you are disappointed when the coin lands on heads, it is a sign that tails is what you wanted. It was probably the right choice. For instance, if you are hoping for a sign to quit your job, the petition itself might hold your answer on what to do. Consider if this is your intuition’s way of confirming what you already know: Your current job is perhaps too emotionally draining, or it has simply run its course.

While there is a chance you might hear a truth you didn’t want to during divination, often, the confirmation and acknowledgment of this reality can be incredibly cathartic. You may fear this truth and let doubt keep you from asking for a sign.
