Chapter 1
Rythis was tall. He stood over six feet, and he was burly, despite having the general appearance of a high elf. Genetics gifted him the red eyes of his swamp elf father, but the rest of his features down to his dirty blond hair were all from his mother. The only thing the thief could never explain is why his footfalls made no sound. It helped him with his craft, but he was born with whatever magic it was to the best he could tell.

Pushy and rude as was expected if you were to get anywhere in a timely manner, Rythis cut through the slow lines that had merged. He went toward the man wearing an embroidered doublet. He bumped the man. His fingers clasped the coin purse, then he moved on, disappearing among countless others who mistakenly bumped others because of the limited space and copious number of shoppers in the one street.

This was one of them, a place where a dozen of Pramod’s clerics kept order despite the lawless appearance of thieves in general. He took off his bandana then used it to cover his face as was the custom of the Pramod clerics.
Rythis passed the clerics who wore comfortable robes, face coverings and the crescent moon that represented the deception god’s domain. He gave them each a nod in passing. He was headed down the tunnel that would lead to a meal if his picking pockets had proved fruitful. Rythis got to the large
