Most of these stories are marked adult and have been described as different and often involve boy toys and a little social commentary. They aren't to everyone's taste but some people enjoy them. They are in British English even if set in North America. If you enjoy one, try another, if they aren't to your taste just move on to a different author. Some are set in Regency England and explore a time when there were many changes over a short period of time. These are very not so mainstream and not quite so light hearted as some of the others.

Oh by the way red tape first.

Be warned these short stories contain mature content or naughty bits and as such may corrupt you if you’re under 12, 16, 18, 21 or 25 depending where you live thus they are not suitable for you so put them back on the shelf and let them age for a year or two. They were sort of scribbled for fun. © Karen Blayne 2022. All characters depicted in this work of fiction are 19 years of age or older. Luv Karen

Susan picked up her dad’s fiddle and played a tune on it. Her dad thought she was better than he was these days and she wondered if she’d ever own her own fiddle. London had all the best fiddlers, and once they heard her play. Oh well it was just a dream. Now it was time to gather the sheep up with Meg. Floss was coming on nicely as well. She had a dozen dogs in training and they fetched a good price. Funny really her dad was a shepherd and she raised sheepdogs on the side, same as her dad playing the fiddle. Every penny helped, he’d say.

Walter looked up from his desk. Lord Burlington welcome, what can I do for you? I’m after port and word has it you’ve just had a new shipment in. True but I have some older vintage Port that you might prefer. I’ll take twenty dozen of the vintage but I was after something cheaper for my guests. Something both they and my pocket will like. Have your butler come over and let’s see what he thinks? Sensible suggestion, that way I don’t have to sample the non vintage stuff, I’ll send Hoskins along. Walter looked at his lists and what had come in recently. With the ongoing war in Spain he wasn’t sure how Portugal would be affected or more to the point could he rely on his suppliers. He’d slip across and see how the land lay.

Well at least owning your own ship meant you could be sure of getting passage. He looked round the small inside cabin with its two bunks and thank heaven he wasn’t six foot tall. He made his way to the Captain who was supervising deck cargo. Deck Cargo? Aye well the weather is normally not too bad at this time of the year and the army is willing to risk losing it in bad weather they’re so desperate to get it shipped. I don’t think a small amount will affect the stability of the ship that much and it pays very well. Walter crossed his fingers. Have we enough crew? Well I wouldn’t say no to you working your passage. The Navy is after experienced seamen at the moment and you’ve kept watch before. Walter nodded his agreement.

Betty couldn’t believe her luck. Her friend had managed to get her a job in one of the big houses in the west end. Cleaning out the grates and laying fires but hopefully it would be steady work
