Most of these stories are marked adult and have been described as different and often involve boy toys and a little social commentary. They aren't to everyone's taste but some people enjoy them. They are in British English even if set in North America. If you enjoy one, try another, if they aren't to your taste just move on to a different author. Some are set in Regency England and explore a time when there were many changes over a short period of time. These are very not so mainstream and not quite so light hearted as some of the others.

He slid into the cool water and slowly walked out into the river. The current finally swept him off his feet but a few strokes had him close to the other bank and he pulled himself up with the help of some tree roots.

He hauled on the rope and tied it carefully round a tree. Then he hauled in a second line and pulley. Soon he had the handcart in parts and each part was hoisted across the river.

Finally he retied the rope in such a way that it would hold as he crossed but a tug on the second line would release it. Rope and tackle was hard to come by. Paul had liberated theirs from a limber wagon. He dried himself off and changed into his spare dry uniform and looked over his charges. Still now they had handcart to help carry whatever supplies they could lay their hands on.

Lieutenant Lord Peregrine Randall meet Serjeant Sam Smith. You’ll follow any suggestions he makes if you please.
