Chapter 14. Odile. Runian Queendom, Capital of Runia. Straw Dolls and the Spirit of Bloody Lizzy. Year 2123 after the Appearance of the Oracle

I curse. I curse. I curse, muttered Odile, shutting herself in her room. She methodically tapped a nail with a hammer, nailing the straw doll to the plank.

She took the straw from a specially purchased broom. And the plank was part of a collapsible cheap small shelf, also bought specially. Hammer and nails Odile bought in the nearest hardware store also for this occasion. And she found the oriental curse in Meganet.

Why is she knocking and muttering there? dad's voice was heard behind the closed door.

    Fr? Donut supported him.

Let her knock, don't disturb her. Or would you rather have her run around the apartment screaming? mom answered melancholy.

Yes, let her knock, dad agreed at once. He often abstracted from what was happening. And he preferred to adhere to the principle: I do not want to interfere in anything. And also: I don’t want to know and notice anything superfluous. Just leave me alone.

The clock showed almost midnight. But this did not bother Odile: she immediately imposed many curses on many people. Therefore, she had to knock a lot.

From different sides, from different neighbors, various kinds of knocks were also heard. Either they answered Odile in this way to the noise she made, or they also imposed curses on someone. Or maybe they were just doing minor repairs out of stress. In the Runian Queendom, many people had a strange habit of doing minor or even major repairs due to stress or just because of the mood. After all, there is always something to do at home: hang a shelf, a picture, etc.

But a major repairs still implies a lot of noise produced, which is clearly not good at such a late time. But a relatively quiet knock, for some reason, many considered acceptable.

I curse. I curse. I curse, Odile methodically continued to drive nails into the straw doll.

Finally, she was finished. Finished for today. Many nails had already been driven into it. As in the rest of the straw dolls.

All the straw dolls made by Odile were marked with symbols she understood alone. Now she put down the doll of one of the parliamentarians of the Runian Queendom. With the dolls of Sir Zoran, Supreme Chairman of Lesovie, and Chief Secretary of Farland, she had already completed the ‘work’ before. As with the dolls of the directors of some companies and payment systems that have left the market.

It has been three months since Sir Zoran ordered the Runian troops to enter Lesovie to save the world. During this time, a lot has changed. Now it was October. It was damp, but not particularly cold.

At first, the whole world was in shock. Even the fact that a vaccine against Diadem-122 was released for wide use in the Runian Queendom just a few days after that was overlooked by many because of it. By the way, all medical precautions for vaccinated citizens were canceled — after vaccination, they could no longer wear masks, but they needed to have a relevant certificate from the clinic with them.

About a week after the Diadem-122 vaccine was launched into widespread use in the Runian Queendom, the Farland Union and several countries of Calliope launched their vaccines. They also allowed vaccinated people not to wear masks. But this, too, has been overlooked by the public. For everyone was shocked by what was happening between the Runian Queendom and Lesovie. And it was to these events that all the attention turned out to be riveted.

The Farland Union and the countries of Calliope immediately imposed economic restrictions on the Runian Queendom. Of course, such measures have already been introduced before: after the border conflict five years ago. But those restrictions did not go to any comparison with the current ones.

The new restrictions affected trade in most categories of goods, transactions with most banks and technologies.

In doing so, the Farland Union and the countries of Calliope said:

We are not against the common people of the Runian Queendom. We understand that they can do nothing about the current situation, said the Chief Secretary of the Farland Union and the leaders of the Calliope countries. Therefore, the current restrictions will not affect their standard of living.

But this is only formal. In reality, many companies of the Farland Union and the countries of Calliope simply left the Runian Queendom. Among them were cosmetic companies, chain cafes, clothing stores, food and drinks, goods for children and much more than ordinary people used in everyday life.

But the material sphere filled up quickly — many eastern and southern countries have long wanted to take places in various industries. And the regional producers of the Runian Queendom itself have long dreamed of expanding production, but could not do it because of competition. Still, a country with a population of two hundred million is a ‘tidbit’ for business.

Yes, not everything was organized perfectly in three months, but everyone worked hard so that the quality of life of ordinary people in the Runian Queendom did not fall.

In addition, Elly Express continued to work. And on such a huge online platform, it was possible to find replacements for most products.

But still, despite the absence of a shortage, some goods became more difficult to buy, and the prices of everything increased due to the collapse of the Runian Coin.

However, according to all analysts, the crisis in the Queendom proceeded according to one of the mildest scenarios. Even the Coin did not collapse as much as everyone thought at the very beginning.

The situation was completely different with digital goods and payment systems. Streaming servers, designer sites, video games, freelance marketplaces, and international payment systems through which freelancers received payment from foreign customers have left the Runian Queendom, as have most foreign online stores. Those stores that did not have representative offices in the country simply stopped processing orders and accepting payments, although some international payment systems with main offices in eastern countries continued to work in the Queendom (but they were not used on freelance platforms).

Gone are the designer servers, the freelance marketplace, and the payment system that Odile used.

She felt like her life was over. In the past, she has also done illustrations for foreign clients. But now many of them were simply afraid to deal with her. And those who did not mind did not contact her, because they still would not be able to transfer payment to her: the necessary payment systems stopped working. Although they were used by many freelancers
