This book is dedicated to my son, Jason. As a child, Jason loved to be read to, but he was not an avid reader himself.  There were plenty of books available for him to read but reading just wasn't his thing.

Now, much education and many years later, I have found out that children must be allowed to select the kind of books they want to read and have them available.

Jason became a pilot and now reads many books on aviation, famous pilots in history, and stories about flying. If only I had known then his interests would turn to aviation, I might have had many more books of that genre available to him as a child. I am sorry Jason, I have learned too late for you, but we all live and learn, sometimes sooner rather than later.

    ABOUT THE AUTHOR

    THE UPSET NEST

It was a different kind of day, Whimsy thought as she left the house. It wasn’t sunny, it wasn’t rainy. It wasn’t cold, but it wasn’t hot either. It was a gray and gloomy day with no fog.

The temperature was mild, so Whimsy decided to go visit her friends, the Robins and see their cute tiny babies. She knew seeing the cheery little ones would make the day brighter for her.

When Whimsy arrived at the nest of the Robins, Mr. and Mrs. Robin greeted Whimsy with hugs and ushered her over to see the new twin babies.

Exclaimed Whimsy in a very loud voice. She was so loud that she startled herself and, needless to say, Mr. and Mrs. Robin were not pleased. The babies had awakened and started crying.

Why, Whimsy, Scolded Mrs. Robin, You know you must not talk so loud when the babies are sleeping! You have startled them and now they are crying!

Mrs. Robin rushed to the babies, cooing and softly singing, trying to get them to go back to sleep.

    "I’M SO SORRY!

Exclaimed Whimsy loudly again to Mr. Robin who was scowling by now.

Again, Whimsy startled herself with her loud voice, and, embarrassed, she ran down the tree and hid under a pile of leaves until she could calm herself.

She was very upset with herself and was on the verge of tears as she pulled out her little white handkerchief.

Whimsy thought and thought about why she had shouted so loudly at the Robin’s house. She could not understand what had happened to her
