Every page in this book has been inspired by events and people in my own personal life. There are so many people that play a part in my life, far too many to name, but each has left a footprint upon my heart. In fact many times I am also inspired by the people around me that I don’t even know. I send my love and gratitude to all of you. You know who you are. And to YOU, the reader, thank you!

Then of course there are those people in your life that have such a tremendous impact on your life that you are forever changed. I’d like to start by thanking my family because I know that they were hand selected, each and every one by God to remind me how to love.

My son Curtis, the laid back young man that has the gentlest heart and the greatest gift of music has taught me the biggest lessons of unconditional love. He is my first born child, so as most of you know those babies don’t come with instructions. I’m pretty sure I was not qualified for that job when I signed up. Thank God for on the job training. One of my favorite sayings has always been God doesn’t call the qualified, he qualifies the called.

Then came my daughter Danielle. She is a remarkable young lady, her high energy and enthusiasm always amazes me. She is a very dedicated and determined young woman whose personality shines brighter than the sun. I have come to realize over the years that these two children I thought I was raising were in fact raising me. My children were opposite in so many ways that it created the most amazing opportunities to learn how to really love others, but more importantly it taught me how to love myself. It occurred to me that if I split myself in half, all my qualities and behaviors you’d have them. These children were the perfect balance and combination of me. My love for them helped me to learn to accept the parts I didn’t like or understand, and how to forgive people when they were really only doing what they knew how to do. It had never occurred to me before that most people are really doing the best they know how to do.

I also want to thank my daughter in law Brittany. Her love for my son has been such a blessing. They have given me two of the most precious gifts. My grandsons Tripp and Rhythm. They are angels sent straight from God. I am a very proud nanny!!

My biggest teacher and supporter was always my mom, Kathy. The role of a mother cannot be described in words but it can be felt on the deepest levels of your very being. My mom was my best friend. She saw things in me that I never understood until I had my own children. On those days when I felt like life would just eat me up and swallow me whole, I’d pick up the phone and she would always remind me how amazing I was. For many years I’d tell her you’re just saying that because you’re my mom and you have to which is funny for those of you that knew my mom would remember that she always said exactly what was on her mind in a no nonsense kind of way and she never HAD to say anything. My own daughter said that very same thing to me over the years. When I started this book I’d call her everyday to read it to her and for the first two weeks she didn’t realize that I was the one writing it. My cover was blown one day when she requested that I read ahead a day. After a brief argument about why I couldn’t read a day ahead she wanted a logical reason and not all the excuses I had given, so I simply stated that I had not written it yet. I wanted an unbiased opinion of the book and she thought it was just another inspirational gem that I was introducing her to. Those are the moments that make a mother proud. She wasn’t surprised at all, but she was so amazed that I was going to do this. That’s when I knew she had been right all those years about me having a great gift. I wasn’t great at singing, dancing or any of the other things that I thought meant you had a gift. I always wanted to be prettier or smarter or more popular, good at what everyone else seemed to be good at. I was always different. Then I started working in a specialty baby retail store many many years ago and I realized the gifts I had were just as different. I had the ability to relate to others, I found people very fascinating. I love helping others and God gave me the gift of words, not only in writing but in speaking. I have a career that has given me the opportunity to not only help people
